Daily Review

This is an experimental post to see how a second open mike type post would work.  Daily review is also your post.  This provides Standarnistas the opportunity to review events of the day.  The usual rules of good behaviour apply (see the Policy).  Don’t forget to be kind to each other.

Government in disarray as MP’s offending revealed

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s Labor Government’s majority is on a knife edge after recent revelations that Labor MP Billy Gorton had criminal convictions he did not declare to the Labor Party and after a former partner alleged that he had subjected her to sustained domestic violence.

Sledging sucks

Hey, all you folk angry with Aussie cricket team sledging – how do you put up with John Key PM?

Some random thoughts on the Northland result

Winston Peters’ win in Northland yesterday was based on turnout that was significantly higher than turnout for any other recent by election.  And occurred in no small part because of some adept handling of messaging of support by Andrew Little.

By-elections are FPP

Paddy Gower and Duncan Garner don’t understand our electoral system: “that’s MMP”. By-elections are pure First Past the Post – and that’s why Andrew Little didn’t need to do a deal, and Northland doesn’t stink like Epsom.
