Something to live by, in our Environment,on our Planet….FYI, I do my level best.

protect and look after the things we love.

Green Party promises to close carve-outs for commercial fishers, end bottom trawling

"We understand the ecosystem, meaning pressures facing the Gulf also come from the land around it, and in turn impact the seabirds and life that rely on it. That's why we'll sensibly regulate what can get in, protect what's there, and resource revitalisation."

"We know protection works. Goat Island has been a marine reserve since 1975, and the snapper and crayfish came back. We've got more than enough science and community support to do the right thing. The question is whether there the political will to take on commercial interests, and that's what the Greens are here to deliver," Swarbrick said.

What backsliding on climate deals could cost us [Newsroom, 5 Oct 2026]
New Zealand faces its first climate complaint under EU trade rules, but the Government rejects claims climate promises have been broken

Kiwi environmentalists have a long list of transgressions they see as having taken us backwards, including reopening offshore oil and gas exploration, weakening the biogenic methane target, removing the requirement to price agricultural emissions, stopping Mike Smith’s climate liability lawsuits against major emitters, and failure to set sufficiently ambitious Paris agreement targets.
    …
“And I do think Todd McClay, the trade minister, overstepped the line on that.”
    …
“What it says to me, what the responses from Todd McClay, from David Seymour, from Shane Jones say to me, and the reaction from the NGOs backing this complaint, it just illustrates how vast the divide is.”

In short as far as this goes it appears that due to the “he doth protest too much” – there is clearly a good chance that there is a fire behind the smokescreen of denials.

But I will let the EU commission be the judge on the facts rather than the Ministers reckons in determining the outcome.

So far this completely confirms as total rubbish this governments initial and ongoing pronouncements of being a evidence led govt.

If they want to live by the evidence led decisions sword then they can die by the same sword.

Grab bag? Escape plan? Climate change Wildfire risk increasing : (

Have a grab bag, escape plan ahead of increased summer wildfire risk – FENZ

El Niño is expected to cause spikes in high temperatures this summer which, combined with dryness and wind, will result in an increased wildfire risk.

It was also important that people look at ways to prevent fires.

Yes, about that. AGW is causing our Planet to burn. Humans be warned !

"In New Zealand, we see around 98 percent of our fires caused by human activity," he said.

"We want people to be diligent and looking at how they can prevent an event from occurring."

And re controlled farm burnoffs. The latest in a long list is still burning. : (

Queenstown blaze burns 1400 hectares, still not under control

District Commander Blair Kiely said the fire had spread from Walter Peak Station along the McKinlays Creek area, and had also affected parts of adjoining conservation estate and Cecil Peak Station.

No grab bags or escape plans for the helpless Birds, Animals, or Native plants though : (

“No homes or buildings have been damaged, and there are no structures or livestock assessed as being at immediate risk.”

The cost?! (apart from to the Environment…)

He said five helicopters with monsoon buckets had been targeting the most active fire edges on Wednesday, while ground crews were continuing structure protection work around the homestead.
