Good to see this positive outcome; strikes work:

Earlier this month, the first national firefighters strike was held, followed by another last week.

In a joint statement released today, Minister of Internal Affairs Jan Tinetti said she had brought the two parties, Fire and Emergency and the New Zealand Professional Firefighters Union (NZPFU), together to discuss a way forward in the collective bargaining dispute.

    .

It’s the political outcomes of this (professional-managerial) class relentlessly following its own self-interest that are bad.

Danyl astutely applies the arguments of Christopher Lasch in The Revolt of the Elites … and, by extension, the theories of other leading social critics on the Professional-Managerial Class (currently the driving-force of Wokedom) … to the present Government & contemporary New Zealand politics & public bureaucracy.

The notion that a dogged pursuit of self-interest, profound hostility to liberal democratic norms (& indeed to large segments of working people) underlies all the ostentatious moral posturing from this highly privileged class is spot-on. One or two commenters here could do with a good, long gaze into the mirror … but won’t be holding my breath on that one.

And, amusingly enough, Danyl publishes his critique in the New Zealand PMC's very own House Journal … The Spinoff.

    Sublime.

      Thanks swordfish for the read.

More and more I feel a political divide along neo-liberal/non neo-liberal (I don't know another descriptor, Social Democrat maybe?) lines.

This management class has benefitted greatly the current way of doing things and it seems like the pollies are utterly beholden to these anonymous, unelected 'officials' that are not held accountable for their actions.

For all our concern about Tamaki/VFF/Disinformation local election candidates my reckons say this PMC mob are way more harmful to society and they are embedded, accepted and very well renumerated.

brilliant article. The managerial class are sucking up all the funding, while the workers who work in the real world eg nurses are treated like shit.

      Thanks Labour. Not
