    One News poll out:

Poll: Greens surge to best result ever as National, Labour slide further

As always, the trend is more informative than the headline numbers. Obviously bad for both Labour and National, but the underlying story is that Opportunity are not eating into the Greens' support, as some on the left feared. As Opp get established in the public mind as a 5% party, then the coalition government has nowhere to go. In turn that leads to more internal bickering (we've seen plenty today).

The Greens have shown the discipline that the 3 parties on the right lack. Quite the irony there.

The ACT Party leader responded to the poll by calling on National Party voters to party vote ACT.

The Epsom MP, the cup of tea beneficiary, knows this would mean

*Willis would not return on the list

*Christopher Bishop would be out, if he failed to retain his electorate seat

*ACT might finally get ahead of NZF in the polls

*National's dominance of the coalition, such as it is, would be over

*Seymour and Peters would be effectively co-leaders using the National Party leader like ventriloquist dummy.

The rising tide lifts the Green boat – but scuppers those to the right!

The Greens are already being perceived (by people I mix with) as a party with policies, integrity and talent!

        20% here we come!

    Compliance punches?

Police sergeant in court for allegedly injuring woman in Bay of Plenty cell

Yeah…I'm sure it happens all the time.

The sergeant said his punches hadn't been hard – describing them as "compliance punches" – and his lawyer, David Pawson, suggested Bevins could have been injured by knocking her face against the edge of the stainless steel bed as she was taken to the ground.

This is in the cell mind….

The CCTV didn't show what Bevins was doing as she was obscured by the sergeant's body, but it did show him punching her a further three times after the initial punch.

He said the punches were short, straight jabs – though later accepting two had been uppercut style – and maintained they weren't hard, were not intended to injure her and were "compliance jabs".

A much bigger….man using his compliance uppercuts etc…

His fifth and final punch, the Crown alleged, was so strong it broke her tooth, cutting the sergeant's knuckle.

His lawyer, Pawson opines. (and yea, be fucked with that…this was in the cells with other …cops onlooking. ): (

"I don't know about you, but I know that if I ring the police, they turn up to a job and there's something happening outside my house, I expect them to sort it out decisively."

TV3 did an interesting item last night – inflation.

They made the distinction between headline inflation and 'essentials' inflation.

The example they gave – a simple sandwich – from 10 years ago: inflation, up 36%, wages up 52% BUT essentials inflation [milk, bread, cheese butter] up 92%!

      Lies, damn lies and statistics!
