Word for the day meretrix – Latin for harlot.

Then there is the glorious word meretricious from the same Latin root.

      1. apparently attractive but having no real value.

        .

      2. ARCHAIC

relating to or characteristic of a prostitute.

My father used it as his opinion of the city of Napier when we were growing up. As a capturer of big words, this was a prized possession for me though he explained it as being 'no better than they ought to be', rather than embarking on an explanation of how the first meaning tied in to the second archaic meaning.

The ACT leaders response to advice to set the heat pump temp to 21 degrees and have shorter showers

ACT Party leader David Seymour asked whether the Government thought Kiwis "are stupid?"

"It's like a burglar coming back to a house they've robbed to tell their victim how to stay safe," Seymour said.

"The level of gaslighting is off the charts.

Mine, 21 degrees is so middle class, working class people have already set it at 18 degrees, not that Seymour would have any idea.

He wants to reduce benefit payments and would rather lock up more poor people than supply affordable housing.

Everything he says is a version of gaslighting/class warfare.

It is always those who are guilty of lying and cheating who are the first to blame others of their own malfeasance.

If National are prepared to completely reverse the Housing Supply and Other Mattets bill, then they are prepared to completely reverse the Carbon Zero bill.

    Shaw should be worried tonight.

And he should call it out.

      Why?

      Did the Greens support the

The Resource Management (Enabling Housing Supply and Other Matters) Amendment Act (the Act) requires medium density residential standards (MDRS) for specified urban areas, to enable a wider variety of housing choice.

      No.

Or is a yeah na scenario The Greens explained why the bill was wrong and then supported it.

Green MP and chair of the Environment Select Committee Eugenie Sage said there was a risk the bill would allow for more urban sprawl without encouraging people to densify urban centres enough.

True, allowing three storey build citywide simply ended urban planning – enabling developers to determine zoning.

The Green Party supported the bill but have argued against the shortened select committee process and have pushed changes that would see more urban trees protected and taller buildings encouraged.

National have provided them with the chance to re-visit the issue and they should welcome this.

The reasons why the developers charter was wrong was exposed during the floods.
