Hawaiian shirts have often walked a fine line between relaxed summer wear and a fashion crime–older guys signalling “I am a wacky guy really…” In my younger days–late 70s– I bought beautiful non kitsch Hibiscus print shirts from a Samoan store in Albert St Auckland–Fare Paru? (excuse wrong spelling etc. a long time ago) and enjoyed them at the time. Would not touch a Hawaiian shirt with a 40 foot pole now.
