McCashin dark ale and a pinot with the coworkers …

I’m actually at a dinner tonight with Tim Groser and Chris Finlayson. Any messages keeping with Weekend Social that anyone wants me to give?

Found some wiity ditties in nz listener of 2 July in their Quips and Quotes.

This one from Us Tv host Jay Leno
“President Obama met with the president of Mongolia. Of course, Sarah Palin had to chime in, saying her favourite movie was Steel Mongolians.”

and from Us Tv host Jimmy Fallon
“It turns out that 70% of guns found in Mexico actually come from the US. Meanwhile, 70% of people found in the US actually come from Mexico.”

Prism, those funnies in the Listener are just wonderful at times – make my day sort of humour!

Nothing too earth shattering in the latest edition which arrived today – but this isn’t too half bad, “A lawmaker in California is pushing for 13 counties to break away and form a new state called South California. Meanwhile, residents are pushing for a more fitting name: North Mexico.”

Must pass this on. I think there are long standing George Carlin fans here. Outrageously clever – his Modern Man sketch. Words- he’s taken every new age, new rage, argot, slang and modern street speak word and woven them into a rap. They should study this in school.

Great to read the Standard from afar.Thank goodness there are folks back in NZ to keep an eye on things. Very very hot here. No wind and almost no English spoken but charming helpful people. How short our own history is.

Have you been up up and away in your beautiful balloon yet?

“How short our own history is.” If I remember correctly, thirty seven civilisations have been recorded in Turkey. Troy of course had a dozen or so layers. There was an underground city in the centre. And a real find for me as a Romanophile, the underground cistern in Instanbul just by the Hippodrome.

      Enjoy Turkey, Ianmac………..
