The full [Labour's KiwiSaver] policy proposal looks to:

    • Make employer contributions compulsory, and lift to 6 percent by 2032, including when employees reduce or pause their own contributions.
    • Set the employee default at 4 percent, remove the minimum contribution rate, and give employees more flexibility to choose their rate as circumstances change.
    • Ban new total remuneration contracts that absorb employer KiwiSaver contributions into salaries.
    • Extend employer contributions to workers over 65.
    • Keep KiwiSaver growing for parents while they're on paid parental leave.
    • Explore more flexible KiwiSaver options for self-employed New Zealanders.
    • The party explained that making the employer contribution compulsory and increasing the employer contribution to 6% over time would increase revenue from the Employer Superannuation Contribution Tax.

Unfortunately, nothing yet on Labour’s website.

Superannuation used to have no tax on investment income, but pensions in retirement were treated as taxable income. One of the worst changes to Kiwisaver has been allowing withdrawals from a Kiwisaver account to buy a house, or even worse to temporarily alleviate poverty – all to assist reduce the cost of social welfare to government – welfare is what gets given to businesses, not people in the eyes of ACTNatFirst. If we could house returned servicemen through government loans (at a lowere interest rate than provided by banks), why can we not do something similar now? So good on Labour for their announced policy; I suspect they know that more will be needed in a second term . . .

I used it to get into a house, so it's tough one, I had a choice between big kiwisaver and spend it on rent in 10 years time, or get a house and try get free hold withh $100,000 in my kiwisaver. Which is best I don't know

A very insightful discussion on The Rest is Politics with Antony Scaramucci, with 35 years of US political and Wall St experience, who helped Trump on his first electoral campaign. Great insights into political personalities, and Trump's electoral appeal, and that he is destroying the US system.

"Carney is a thermostat, he works to bring the temperature in the debate down to where he wants it; Trump is a thermometer, he measures the emotional temperature and responds to that to get what he wants".
