Looks like the Lux Flakes is on his last legs, with the purges he has carried out within his own party.

These theories have been coming out every weekend. What's with that. Anyway, we can guess where they are coming from since Bishop got shafted in the re-shuffle.

“Hato Hone St John says it is still able to operate as usual, despite some ambulance crews reporting occasional problems getting diesel.

Paramedics have been making sure the service's 629 ambulances are topped up at the end of each shift whenever fuel drops below three-quarters of a tank.

Some petrol stations have been running out of fuel as the conflict in the Middle East drives up prices.”

But our government tells us there are no issues with supply.

According to a link posted by aj today on the Standard, issues with supply will possibly occur around 20th April.

The Iran oil shock is about to hit.

The CoC seems to have taken Winnie's myopic approach – it'll all be over in a day or two! Wishful thinking as government policy!

So 20th of April is a Critical Date on the Calendar ???

        • Tony Veitch 3.1.1.1

On a map in the video it shows 20th April as the approx. date supplies en route to NZ and Australia might cease.

          After that – who knows.

But even with the 45 day ceasefire currently rumoured, the problem simply won't go away, as the video explains.

We're in for a rough time!

As far as I can tell the issue is where the next fuel supplies will come from. But I haven't seen any good analysis of what would be expected normally, and what the situation is now. Have you seen anything like that?

An excellent piece by Joel MacManus on the make-up of the Opposition. However, he missed the opportunity to include TOP as the least incumbent opposition party of all and a real contender for a seat if one wishes to believe the most recent Roy Morgan poll (23 Feb – 22 Mar 2026) whilst ignoring that Roy Morgan systematically polls higher for TOP compared to other polls.

While it was unlikely the government would pause petrol taxes or road user charges, Willis said it was "very unlikely" the government would go ahead with a planned 12 cent per litre increase to fuel taxes next January [2027].

Targeted, timely, temporary. By my calculation, that amounts to more than $1 billion in 2027.

Looks like Simeon Brown will be our next PM.

    • Ed1 6.1

Is there anything to suggest that there is even a small possibility of him replacing Luxon before the election? They seem to have tried to find out whether Willis could replace him but that seems to have failed and been abandoned. I suspect Goldsmith would be more likely to get it, he may not have achieved anything but is close to as congenial as Luxon'' Simeon Brown is offensive to too many voters; they are more likely to stick to Luxcon.

With the economy facing many weaknesses, including war in the Middle East, it is the mum-and-dad investors shouldering the impact.

Good. Finally the amateur landlord class are having to look at their budgets rather than their tenants'.

How long before my comments no longer go to pre-mod?

Also, the premod ban appears to be causing submission issues before I get to the point where my comments appear, then disappear.

I think you've said before that commenting under a ban results in the comments going to trash and there's no compulsion to retrieve them. Is this the case for premod comments?

Just trying to work out what's going on here before I waste a lot of time contributing to this blog site.

You're not banned, you're in premod. That means all your comments have to be released manually. Generally that will mean a short to medium delay until one of the mods sees it and releases it. Looks like your general comments last night were released but the ones about moderation weren't until I saw them this morning.

Don't know about comments being visible and then disappearing. Maybe there is a lag where they appear to you so you have the 10 minute window to edit the comment?

When someone is banned, comments automatically go to Trash. We never retrieve them. People get banned until a certain date, and sometimes there is a delay in releasing the person from the ban list on that date, because we forget or are busy. There is no compulsion, but I don't know any mod who would leave a ban in place intentionally and not inform the person who has been banned.
