While we watch the theatre of politics and tactics of power, (Caesar, Brutus et al, the type occurs regularly as the mousewheel turns, or the turnspit dogs labour), who is looking at the amalgamation of local councils etc that the low chess admins have under way?
Myself I think that our Council goes about consulting in a very expensive way, and often ties ratepayers to an expensive debt-ridden future while they pursue vanity projects to attract tourists, for businesses often owned by overseas people with no real interest in us peasants. However sweeping 'Rogerdug' changes that commit us to even more overweening control than already is making me feel very uneasy.
I do not think Councils are very much conditioned by people's opinions or wants from my experience. Amalgamation is the latest craze, reorganisation, shakeup planned.
