It's just a rogue poll. At least that is what Chippie is claiming.
In Mandy Rice-Davies' immortal phrase, or at least in the way it is usually quoted.

If it's not "Rogue" that is actually worse for National than Labour.
Bizarrely, both major parties need the other major party's polling to hold up. Not surge, but not crumble either.

I posted a reply which I have since deleted. I misunderstood what you said in the first sentence. If you did see my comment please ignore it.
What would seafaring men and rational public business thinkers regard and say about this? In Nelson the idea is to have a single board for our Port and Airport. I think this is a mistake. That the matter is being considered under the fever of amalgamation of authorities. Also the idea is to enlarge entities under some economic imperative that results in bigger and better like Auckland area, huh.
I think that our port in Nelson will be an increasing jewel, and the airport eventually will be expensive to maintain in itself, useful long into the future. But fuel and smaller planes will be needed and not so much runway.
But the sea will be there still and I think Ports should look to their own specialty and not get wrapped up in a conglomerate and probably some financial scheme which is likely where you have a few rich men with power, planning for their own advantage.
Isn't it time we thought 'small is beautiful'. We shouldn't forget that the movers and shakers in port management are often enthused to sell the vital infrastructure to some smart alick from somewhere else And the nation's local shipping has been by-passed by clever financial climbers.
