“First-term National MP Todd Barclay is facing a selection challenge in his Clutha-Southland electorate, following a spate of resignations and local disquiet over his performance.

Barclay claims to be unworried about the reported challenge from former Merrill Lynch funds manager Simon Flood, saying “challenges come and go all the time”.”

Ha ha ha ha ha! Barclay, facing challenges, “all the time”. He’s been in the game for the blink of an eye. “All of the time” – must have been a dire 3 years!

“Even in the era of Truth and Reconciliation, we speak too rarely about about restitution, restoration, and the act of reclaiming. Leanne Betasamosake Simpson’s “How To Steal A Canoe,” one of the standouts from her tender, powerful collection of story-songs f(l)ight, is about reclaiming what’s been taken.

“On one level,” Simpson tells Chart Attack, “‘How to Steal A Canoe’ is about returning an old birch bark canoe to the Mississauga Nishnaabeg people in an honourable way,” something the artist and writer once helped with. “On another level, this song is about taking back all the things that have been stolen from Indigenous peoples, whether that’s land or bodies, knowledge or belongings. It is taking back of our precious selves.””

Is Misa Fia Turner actually our own CV?

She recently wrote on Facebook that Mr Trump had been “anointed for an assignment” and, in another post, “God Bless America! The people have spoken… against all odds!”

Peter Goodfellow then had the temerity of accusing the Wood campaign of dirty tricks in trying to distract from the by-election. But then Peter Goodfellow should know all about dirty tricks – his party is up to their eyeballs in it. And then why not clarify Misa Fia’s comments from a National Party position, Peter?

    But wait, there’s more…

Ms Turner has publicly shared her beliefs on Facebook on the validity of stigmata – sores that appear on the skin and represent the crucifixion of Jesus.

She denounced same-sex marriage as “against moral values” and she believes Mr Trump was anointed by God.

And the National Party pres again…

National Party president Peter Goodfellow said that “while Labour likes to attack people based on Chinese-sounding names or exclude people with proud religious beliefs, National welcomes people of all ethnicities and cultures“.

Including fundamentalist nut jobs with views closely aligned with those of Brian Tamaki?

    Another rogue poll.
That is about 10 in a row isn’t it?
Roy Morgan has National on 49.5% and Labour on 23%.
Is it too late to change the leader or are Labour doomed to collapse into a position below the Green Party AND New Zealand First?

  6. 11

Here is the funniest of thoughts. If labour drop 1 more % from the current Roy Morgan in the elections – then they will have zero list MPs. Andrew little won’t even get in.

Little better start looking for a seat. He Should try New Plymouth again.

Why is national doing so good in the polls. Roy Morgan tells us –

The NZ Roy Morgan Government Confidence Rating has increased strongly to 141pts (up 14.5pts) in November with a high 65% (up 9.5%) of NZ electors saying NZ is ‘heading in the right direction’ compared to only 24% (down 5%) that say NZ is ‘heading in the wrong direction’. This is the rating’s highest score for nearly two years since January 2015.
