This is something that shows how vindictive Bennett and most of her cronies are, this is something that in time hindsight will be reflected on and remembered and even she will have to "zip" it in shame.

I suspect she might have borrowed that ploy from Rob Muldoon.

In 1974, as Kirk lay dying in hospital (to be fair no-one knew at the time how seriously ill he was) Muldoon sent Kirk are Get well card saying: Get well soon, someone needs your bed.

Umm, he was a pretty sick man Pat. No need for Muldoon to rub it in. Even his own supporters were disgusted. He died a few days later.

I would expect that Norm got a bit of a laugh out of that message and that aint bad….you may need to be a little circumspect about who you banter with but I expect Muldoon knew Kirk pretty well

Normally I have one but in this instance time may well show how inappropriate it is, ie no joking matter.

Further to that did anyone do anything similar when Bennett had surgery?

oh dear this is getting really bad – this is not really funny it is scary.

“I am the chosen one,” Donald Trump declared to reporters Wednesday on the White House lawn, looking toward the heavens.

…Earlier Wednesday morning the president tweeted out unhinged praise of his Middle East policies from the self-styled “conservative warrior” Wayne Allyn Root. Root, a Newsmax personality, dwells in the fever swamps, promoting birtherism and conspiracy theories around the death of Seth Rich. In the immediate aftermath of the Las Vegas concert shooting he tweeted, without evidence, that the massacre was “clearly coordinated Muslim terror attack.”

In a Twitter thread, Trump quoted Root at length calling the him “the greatest President for the Jews” and even the “King of Israel.”

…On Wednesday Trump made clear just how shaken he’d been by the dashing of his dream of Arctic conquest, calling Frederiksen “nasty” — a outburst of misogyny typically reserved for Hillary Clinton. “I thought it was a very not nice way of saying something,” Trump explained to reporters. “All they had to do is say, no, we’d rather not do that or we’d rather not talk about it.”

Prick is a bog standard imperialist.

In fact, buying Greenland has been tried seriously twice. But the changes in international relations since then make it a far worse idea than it was at the time.

The first time came during the administration of President Andrew Johnson. William Seward, a Lincoln holdover, used Johnson’s distraction over Reconstruction to pursue his longstanding goals of territorial expansion.

      […]

The second attempt came in the aftermath of the Second World War. Denmark, which still administered Greenland as a colony, was conquered in a six-hour operation in March 1940. A year later, the Danish ambassador, who retained his credentials even though he refused to take orders from the occupied government in Copenhagen, signed an agreement with the US government allowing it to occupy and fortify the island to prevent Germany from using it as a base against the US and Canada.

Amazing how everyone has stopped talking about Trump’s relationship with Epstein, oh my god it’s a dead cat

I still haven't figured out the original of that nat meme: do the nats really believe that "everyone who wants to work should be able to" is a worse thing than "everyone who can work, should work"?

To me it reads "opportunity" vs "work or die".

Volition versus compulsion. Totally different, and, as you ask, what do those National weasel words actually mean?

          inorite?

Fifteen years ago when they started this lark with the iwi/kiwi line, I'd at least met people who would have had their ideas reinforced by it.

Not so much the current attempts.

I hope their innovative and new "dancing cossacks" ad is better lol

the tories engineered it for nash to get his seat..

it was a safe tory seat – and they got that toe-rag from family first to stand and so split the right vote..

and nash was able to walk thru the middle..

he owes them – he is one of them…

Greta Thunberg, dad and the crew of the Malizia 2 now over half way to New York, courtesy of the wind. Luckily for her and rather coincidentally considering the climate change message she's taking to North America, it's been a very quiet summer hurricane season in the North Atlantic and the yacht has made good progress, mainly into prevailing westerlies. About another week before she gets to New York. She's got guts, that kid!
