      Feds doing a reverse takeover of ACT?

      He's only one MP in what will probably be a reasonably sized caucus. Will be interesting to see how he goes working under Seymour, the current crop are pretty much invisible, with Seymour talking on their behalf.

      Hoggard's used to being the one doing the talking.

        I thought Helen Warboys was angling for Ian McKelvies seat with all the opposition she has put up against Three Waters and its descendant.

          I thought so too! She's spent a lot of ratepayer money fighting with central government.

          Then again the Rangitikei is so blue you could run a literal donkey as the National party candidate and it’ll still probably win.

          Say what you like about Ian McKelvie (who I am only occasionally reminded still exists) but he’s been a pretty decent electorate MP.

          And did some fine work addressing a pressing problem with his cattle rustling bill.

            Before I put the comment up, I had a look at his wiki bio.

            He has done a lot of service, which includes being the longest serving Mayor of Manawatu and board chair of Special Olympics.

    Russia attempts to weaken the Western alliance by exploiting divisions between its members?

    Russian secret services have been staging or infiltrating demonstrations in major cities in Europe for propaganda purposes, several news outlets reported on Sunday.

    The joint research by the Süddeutsche Zeitung,

    German broadcasters NDR and WDR, French paper Le Monde, Swedish paper Expressen and the Scandinavian broadcasters DR (Denmark), NRK (Norway) and SVT (Sweden) is based on leaked strategy papers that are said to have come from the Kremlin's security apparatus.

    The documents were leaked to the Dossier Center, a research organization run by the Kremlin critic Mikhail Khodorkovsky. Their authenticity cannot be verified, but the links and information given there actually lead to demonstrations that took place as described.

    The aim of the staged demonstrations is, among other things, to create anti-Ukraine sentiment or to make Sweden's NATO accession more difficult, the news outlets reported.
