Ideological issues more than leadership are Nat’s problem

Changing National’s leadership will not help the conservatives regain power if they fail to address questions of why they lost the 2017 election. National may be the biggest single party but it is unlikely to stay that. And they have no remaining parliamentary partners. You can’t form a MMP government from that…

Bye Bill?

Barry Soper is claiming that the numbers are being done on sorting out a replacement for Bill English and Paula Bennett may be gone as deputy leader as early as next week.

National’s drug conscience

Bill your pants may be on fire

Bill English has criticised the Government for only offering an officer briefing on the day that legislation is due to be introduced into Parliament.  But appears to have forgotten an offer made by Jacinda Ardern 48 days ago.

It’s time to embrace nanny state

Rather than apologise, it’s time the Left and the new government embraced “nanny state” as a positive, just as the gay community claimed the previously pejorative term “queer”. A nanny state is clearly economically and socially more efficient. We should celebrate our nanny state and not apologise for it.

Doofus of the week – Jami Lee-Ross

Jami Lee-Ross wins the award this week for trying to hold up the passage of a law designed to make sure kids get enough to eat just so he could eat his lunch and then throwing the most amazing of temper tantrums when he did not get his way.

National needs a friend

National is pondering one of the realities of MMP.  Without friends its chances of becoming Government are very limited.

Twyford reverses National’s flawed methamphetamine housing policy

Phil Twyford has shown this new Government has a brain as well as a heart by halting National’s ridiculous state house methamphetamine policy where the presence of minuscule traces would result in eviction even though there was no proof the tenant was responsible and he has apologised to Robert Erueti for the harm caused.

Deranged Golriz Syndrome

National spams the Beehive

National has been clogging Parliament’s written question system by asking questions that even David Farrar thinks seem silly and are over the top.

Invisibill

The media have noticed that Bill English has recently been missing in action.  And pretenders to his throne are starting to play up.

Doofus of the week – Nick Smith

No competition in this one, Nick Smith for showing that despite the 27 long years he has spent in Parliament he still has no idea how our electoral system works and for claiming there is an electoral convention that simply does not exist.

National on the Manus Island crisis

Doofus of the week

The award for doofus of the week this week goes to David Bennett for one of the most nonsensical speeches Parliament has ever seen.

The days of National dick waving

The spin that National are running is that they are unhappy with the move to reduce the MPs in select committees. That their dick size opposition party is the largest make me see teenage boys being idiots. Because there is no substantive difference to parliament from when this was recommended and now.

She’s back …

National’s Parliamentary list has been announced.  The big mover is Judith Collins who has jumped 7 places to number 9 and she is on the front bench.
