    In a new episode of the Spinoff podcast At Large with Toby Manhire, we spoke to Hager about the book [Dirty Work] and the case it makes, and sought his response to the rebuttals.

    Hager does a fine job responding to questions, rebuttals, and criticisms and highlighting the important issues laid out in his book Dirty Work. It’s a very clear & insightful interview.

    When you’re found to have done really rotten things, what they’re doing, and what you’re repeating from them is a series of things which may or may not be partly right, or may or may not be things they can put a different interpretation on, the purpose is to say: look over here. […]

    So I take that with a grain of salt. It’s tactical. Its whole purpose is to divert – it is not trying to find a better, more honest, truer world because they’ve checked out my work.

    Aberfeldy Coastal Shipping Launch A “Game Changer” for NZ Supply Chain

    The service, operated by Aberfeldy Shipping will utilise two multi-purpose vessels, the MV ICS Silver Lining and MV Himala, linking regional ports with major import and export hubs.

    The vessels will be operated by New Zealand crews working under Kiwi terms and conditions, creating up to 77 maritime jobs.

    Maritime Union of New Zealand National Secretary Carl Findlay says the initiative is an outstanding development that demonstrates real confidence in the “blue highway”…

    “New Zealand is an isolated island nation where 99% of trade travels by sea, yet for decades central Government has allowed our domestic fleet to run down. When international supply lines are disrupted, or when natural disasters like Cyclone Gabrielle or the Kaikōura earthquake take out road and rail corridors, coastal shipping is what keeps the country connected and freight moving.”…

    MUNZ is urging the incoming Government to embed coastal shipping directly into national infrastructure and emergency logistics planning, to ensure regional ports and industries are protected against future disruptions…

    Should we start some protected private bond fund to support by a Trust major services that the citizens need? No use waiting for our politicians to resolve problems – they are bleary-eyed from too many pipe-dreams, with them as leading potentates talking with other worldly VIPs. Very probably laughing at how they have just reversed some humane and useful legislation brought in earlier. Sisyphus stuff. Give a bit to deserving political parties, but more in long-term NZAO bonds or whatever?
