After the goldrush

When the circus left town, we had a parade,
the band played on and floats were made.
I looked sideways as they passed,
these bits and pieces, they were the last.
We beat our chests
and cried out loud,
the Tui’s head looked dead, not proud.

That’s neat. My latest piece of art is the destination roll board from a Railways Road Services bus. It has all sorts of destinations, Awanui, Kawakawa, Dargaville, the little known NZ Herald express services that ran in the wee small hours and many others. It is art and history all rolled into one (literally), harking back to the days when the government didn’t shrink from providing services for the public.
