Which West Wing politicians do the Labour Leadership candidates most closely resemble?

West wing banner

OK there are many West Wing affectionados out there and for those of us who were born in the late 1980s or later West Wing has had a seminal effect on the formation of our political beliefs.

So if you were to compare a Labour Leadership candidate with a WW Politician who would it be?

Who does Grant most closely resemble?

Who is the equivalent of Nanaia?

Which character is closest to Andrew?

And who is David (Parker that is …)?

Grant is Bob Russell, Andrew is John Hoynes, Nanaia is Matt Santos. Parker is the guy who sings Peace Train.

I agree with your analysis. But one major character is conspicuous by their absence. David Cunliffe is, without a doubt, Josiah Bartlet. Or had the capability to be. None of these other leadership candidates come close to the calibre, sadly.

For the entire show Josh is a staffer, not a politician.
For almost the entire show Leo is a staffer, politician for only 13 episodes, most of which don’t feature him.
For the entire show Toby is a staffer, not a politician.
For most of her time on the show Amy is a lobbyist, then briefly a staffer.

    The Young Ones perhaps?

Grant Robertson = Rik (annoying pc dork)
Andrew Little = Mike (generic boring dude)
Nanaia Mahuta = Vyvian (has a girls name)
David Parker = Neil (too nice, gets walked all over)

Key is no Underwood, its his damn name. Until Labour, us all even, stop talking about Key points, and start referencing Key in a negative way.

The men – all wearing suits, ties done up to the neck, light coloured shirts. Very conformist, look middle class, cookie cutter. The woman prominent, has the mane of long hair which is de rigeur these days. I notice Jacinda has it
