Wellington fundraisers

Two cool fundraisers coming up for the Greens and Labour.

The age of stupidThe Greens are holding a screening of Kiwi ‘s The Age of Stupid, a movie set in 2055 looking back at today and asking the painful, obvious question – ‘if we could see all these problems of resource exhaustion, pollution, cliamte change, and over-population coming, why didn’t we do enough to head them off?’ The film has been getting great reviews. Well, worth seeing – $20, 6:30 at Paramount in Welly on August 20th. You’ll need to get tickets beforehand – wellingreen@greens.org.nz

Peter Fraser dinnerLabour is holding the inaugural Peter Fraser memorial dinner at the Circa theatre in Wellington, 6pm August 24th. Bit more up-market this one. $70 waged, $60 unwaged for dinner and the inaugural lecture to be delivered by Professor Paul Callaghan, founder of the MacDiarmid Institute at Victoria University, on the vision and values that drove the great man’s life. Tickets from norris.claire@gmail.com

Hey I have an idea for fundraising. why not sell work permits under the auspices of helping immigration issues? Oh thats right, Labours not in power any more, that won’t work, so neither will giving owen glenn a ring. Greens are excused from this one. not because I like you, but because your fiscally honest.

Since the selling of work permits was a one-off Tighty Righty, would you be willing to go on a one-off display as a sort of alien creature. Your words do suggest a very strange creature and perhaps $100’s could be made along the lines :
“Roll up. Roll up. Ask the strange fellow and be surprised and shocked by the bizarre answers he gives. But folks stay well clear because Tighty Righty may be rabid!”
