Open mike is your post.
For announcements, general discussion, whatever you choose.
The usual rules of good behaviour apply (see the Policy).
Step up to the mike …
KJT and Mercurio have some good homespun wisdom on ‘the Shit’ post 6.1.1 and next.
KJT for suggesting vaccination for the rabid dogs chasing money from our economy repetitively like dogs after sticks. Only the easygoing owner keeps that up over half an hour.
Mercurio knows about warts – I have warts. I'll check what he/she says with AI! But politically aren't protesters like warts themselves. They show up in an obvious unsightly way to the 'beautiful people', and can remain as just annoying twerps (sometimes referred to disparagingly as 'rent-a-crowd'), or may become malign and need specific treatment to control.
Viruses are strong and may replicate elsewhere if affected or ousted by protests and adverse publicity. Viruses in humans can actually flip genes,* so can ave unexpected and lasting consequences.

Could a tendency to be caught up in a psychological trend that affects behaviour with long-term results act like a virus does?Ayn Rand fed her ideas into an accepting anti-communist stream in the USA and much of the attitude seen today seems to echo her mid 1900s anti-agitprop. Can the mind be infected, overwhelmed, by a wave of particular thought – pondering point?
I think I’ve gone off topic more than a little. Would you put on O/M?

Funny!
"Convicted former Act Party President Tim Jago has fresh charges and is expected to run for Paremoremo electorate"
NZ Times

How far in kms does he have to run? Is Paremoremo a moving target? Is that where a jail is,* and is he resident in the electorate? (It appears that this information is basely correct, see below).
Has he enough puff for the undertaking, or is someone setting charges to his rear to give him a rocket boost or is this his last gasp before the undertaker? Questions, questions!

These ACT people love poverty, it helps them committee more sexual assaults and the like on minors.
Long may this ACT President linger in prison, 18 more months is not enough. For someone who thought they hardly broke trust or did very little wrong. And suddenly says he feels guilt – after a third piece of prey for this prick comes forward. You just can't make up how much scum and low life pieces of shit ACT and their supporters are.

Don’t act all self-righteous and slander ACT [people] and its supporters of committing “more sexual assaults and the like on minors” [my italics]. You’re on thin ice.
Even my lifetime RW s-i-l has renounced ACT after their recent candidate announcements.
move on orders will fix this

Wendy now feels like she is trapped in a heartless bureaucratic labyrinth that mirrors her daughter's experience.
She has submitted multiple MSD Official Information Act requests, written to Housing Minister Chris Bishop, Associate Housing Minister Tama Potaka, Social Development Minister Louise Upston and complained to Public Trust and the Ombudsman in her search for answers.
"I'm now walking in Caitlin's shoes, experiencing the same run-around, indifference, cruelty and rejection that caused her death," she says.
"I've inadvertently become a mystery shopper for the failings of the various agencies with responsibilities who continue to say, 'Not me'.
"I can't get anywhere, there's just a wall of silence. I'm told that they're protecting Caitlin's privacy. I reply, 'you did not protect her life'."
Wendy believes Caitlin's death tells a story of multi-agency failure and is convinced her daughter would still be alive if the government had not tightened the eligibility criteria for emergency housing in 2024.
https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/regions_canterbury/723765/christchurch-is-my-tomb-from-homelessness-to-hopelessness
Move on orders for the CoC would probably help to fix it! But only if Labour woman-up to the means to prevent homelessness, and set up a fund similar to State Housing of the past. (The men haven't done much to date, so opens the way for women to show their mettle; let them 'push the pedal to the metal'.
it could be open to similar lending from private banks, give them more business and a bit of competition. And be a bit daring about facing up to the no-government intervention under international treaties which enfeebles us. (Hey ' Meet the Feebles', Peter Jackson's 1989 movie may have had encrypting in it but we missed their relevance.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lrwf1PDM-LI
Perhaps Kiwibank could become really useful and not try to compete with the big banks. We might find an internal Kiwi way of funding this housing, jewel investments that they would be and not requiring great profits which would also stay in NZ and be valuable as a multiplier. I am a recipient of a state house loan way-back-when so know how useful it was as a firm footing from which to launch one's efforts in life.
Keith Rankin from Scoop might like to look at my and others' ideas on the economy and do a post about them if he hasn't already.
A friend asked today whether the "move on' police powers would be operable, based on this legislation, in moving on protesters at a protest site such as a MP's office? I have no idea. Any wisdom?
Perhaps if the protesters were begging (please don't destroy our world!) or homeless (well, they're not at home, like Good Citizens so probably they have no homes!)
Now that the entire US military personnel is to be tested for testosterone levels every year, we can soon look forward to a November 2026 NZFirst Minister of Defence in the next government weeding out all those girls, wets, man-boys, non-straights, bodybuilders, softies, cuddlies, people who talk too much, anyone showing tears, and anyone over 50, out of service once they start failing or not taking the injections to get their testosterone up to the right levels.
"High-T Department": Hegseth approves testosterone screening in military

opening the door to transhumanism and a super-race. Fascistic.
Socialism not yet imminent, merely looming; subservience has older generations perpetually cowed in the USA. Younger natives are restless though:
This vision of the USA as a shell corporation seems proffered as an alternative to the hegemon. More suitable for US citizens. Yet it rings true as a bipartisan product. Too bad he then goes off the rails…
A chorus of analysts told us the establishment used devil-in-detail contracts based on dodgy financial schemes, causing the gfc and using debt to eliminate the middle class.
I've seen no evidence that the US middle-class has scraped itself off the floor after that steamroller squished out their economic life-blood. He seems not to have noticed this.

Sounds like a perfect job for David Seymour’s hobby horse club aka Ministry for Regulation.
It's the best way to help renters.
So don't hold your breath for these ACT scum to actually help people. Not when they got [deleted] on their minds
https://www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/361006801/i-am-guilty-former-act-party-president-tim-jago-has-jail-time-added-latest-sex-charge
[First of all, stick to the facts as reported in the RNZ link and don’t ‘invent’ false accusations.
Secondly, don’t smear the whole ACT Party and/or Ministry with the heinous acts of the party’s former president.
Thirdly, don’t diversion troll discussion threads. If you must say something that’s irrelevant, then start a new a new separate thread whilst keeping in mind the previous two points.
Thank you for your cooperation – Incognito]
Mod note
On you second point – act never miss the change to smear everyone.
I'm not interested in playing nice with them – and I'm confused why you are??!? This is not tiddly winks as I've said before.
If the far right can't handle a bit of dark woke – maybe they should not have thrown their shit around in the first place. Because here I agree with Lprent they are dumb and nasty – and in my humble opinion if you don't treat them as such, they let their inner fucktard out.
Nicely nicely has never worked with act, their kiddy fucking leaders, corrupt MP's, nor their supporters and their members issuing death threats against my friends over the Euthanasia law.
Funny that the death threats has started up again – is it because of this post
https://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/PO2607/S00106/highest-number-of-assisted-deaths-on-record-yet-still-not-enough-for-the-act-party.htm
They don't want to help people – they want them dead or at the very least beaten down so they won't raise any concerns against them, nor the corporate dogs they support.
On your third point – you have had a go at me for raising this exact point (troll diversions) – I do believe your response was that discussions evolve naturally and that I had no right to complain how the discussion developed. Have I got that interpretation of your moderation wrong on this issue?
As for you first point – sorry my emotions got the better of me – I really hate [deleted] and in particular [deleted] who use their positions of power. My fellow men cover for [deleted] all the time, and in this case a person who only admitted guilt when he was caught out by someone who had equally powerful family connections. Whilst Seymour was more interested in protecting the act party reputation rather than condemning [deleted]. This is the far right way, they are always the victim, and if you politely call them out on this – crickets.
SO yeah act has a problem with [deleted], actually the whole political class has a problem with [deleted] – in that they do bugger all to stop it.
[It’s ok if you have problems with the far right. It’s ok if you have problems with sexual predators. It’s not ok to associate certain individuals or groups of individuals with false accusations, which you continue doing here and which I’ve edited out for that exact reason, again. If you want to keep this up, I’ll simply ban you for this behaviour and for wasting my time and disrespecting moderation on this site – Incognito]

Looks like the left's days are numbered
https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/world/725168/us-wants-to-globalise-fight-against-far-left-terrorism
And why not, as long as the US doesn't put all its anti-terrorism 'eggs' in one basket.
Why not you say.
Ponder this:
One of the core ideological beliefs of a left-wing terrorist is rejection of free-market economies, which they believe inherently exploit the working class and prioritize profit over human welfare.
How long will it be before the drones start coming?
What will the drones look for – someone not spending enough on useless crap?
Oh-oh!
Calling for social and economic equality (which is another core ideological belief of a left-wing terrorist) would likely get you on a watch list.
Now that you've used the term, you're on it!
Go well, comrade!
They know I'm non violent
Don't want to alarm you, but how do 'they' know that? How do I reassure 'them' that I'm "non violent", and why might that protect me from drones?
How long in your opinion? Can 'drone concerns' drown out the cost-of-living crisis?
https://www.greens.org.nz/luxon_s_government_nearly_halves_food_bank_funding_as_demand_hits_record_high
https://www.greens.org.nz/tax_system_for_all – – – https://vote.nz/
Can 'drone concerns' drown out the cost-of-living crisis?
The two are related.
In that they're both ‘coming’ for the NZ left? Let's agree to disagree.

Can TC stop asking simple pointed questions of which I feel we don't get the point? If there is a query can it be a compare and contrast type please, so we can examine one posit against something else we know and practice thinking; not just sniping from an elevated position. Let's have an actual idea fully rounded rather than a sardonic query from the bleachers.
@ greywarshark
What point would you like me to further explain, grey?
Won't need to deploy their shields then.
Intriguing. I agree with the assessment that "our current economies are running the largest pyramid scheme ever." Does that make me a left-wing terrorist?
Coming for whom? The terrorists? The Greens? The left? Me? You?
Does that make you a left-wing terrorist?
Potentially, it could.
Could it really though? Appreciate your concern for my ‘drone safety’ but it’s misdirected, just like any anti-terrorist drones that might be coming my way.
Imo, your contention @7 – “Looks like the left’s days are numbered” – is alarmist.
https://www.greens.org.nz/tax_system_for_all – – – https://vote.nz/
The drones will be programmed to locate and remove anyone with below-optimal testosterone levels.
That USA news sounds like what may be called Trumcarthyism with left-wing and communism turned into spectres.
After listening to Prof Tim Wilson on Putin and Russia, Russia's downside existed before communism. And the west is not the Camelot that some like to make out.

https://www.csis.org/analysis/left-wing-terrorism-and-political-violence-united-states-what-data-tells-us
A worthwhile read DMKram, found the link. "
"…left-wing perpetrators typically select targets that limit opportunities for mass killing."
In the last decade in the US, right-wing attacks have killed 113, vs LW 13. Fire-bombings of anti-abortion organisations and ICE facilities are generally aimed at property damage.
Thanks tWig. Such analyses should inform the use of any anti-terrorism resources.
Stephen Miller speaks to the international conference against left-wing terrorism now going on in the US :
"When you look at these violent ANTIFA demonstrations, you see any photograph of those who are assembled. Not one of the people looks like a normal person, they're all deformed in some way, in their appearance, dress, mannerism."
https://bsky.app/profile/craigbrittain.com/post/3mqrh3qvzls2i
Is being left and not looking like a normal person going to get you on a watch list?
More from Miller: "When the leftist, who does not believe in freedom, civil rights – protests that we are violating his rights, he is lying – we must stay the course and be completely unflinching in the pursuit of justice against these enemies of civilization."
He's talking about anti-ICE and earlier Black Lives Matter protests which were well within the definition of peaceful mass protest.
https://bsky.app/profile/craigbrittain.com/post/3mqrftqbvdk2i
In the meanwhile, US government instructions to up the response of Dept of Homeland Security to anti-ICE demonstrations by using chemical agents rubber bullets and other crowd control measures has led to demonstrator injuries.
"Doctors and human rights experts with PHR and HRC documented 412 verified incidents of the “misuse” of these crowd-control weapons, also known as “less-lethal weapons”, from June 2025 through May 2026. The report documented 203 injuries stemming from the alleged misuse of the crowd-control weapons. Some of the injuries included blindings, traumatic brain injuries, lacerations, fractures and contusions."
"Haar explained that they qualified “misuse” by a number of methods. First, they tracked whether people in “protected categories”, including journalists and health workers, were targeted by officials. Next, they documented whether vulnerable populations, including older people and children, were affected. And lastly, they tracked whether the weapons were used improperly, like using the weapons in close range, targeting people’s heads or going against the weapons’ manufacturing guidelines.
