Priceless footage Naturesong. Gave me a belly laugh. By taking it down so quickly the ‘authorities’ have ensured maximum coverage all around the world. Had they left it there for a few days the story would have been stale.

It also serves to remind people of Snowden’s enormous courage. One day there will be official statues of him erected.

Edit: its Edward Snowden – not Eric

In case mods didn’t take note of this, the main page preview still refers to Snowden as “Eric Snowden”, as does the post tag.

I don’t know the significance of the eagle statue, but that dude standing on its head must be a bad sign.

Watched the John Oliver interview with Edward Snowden last night. An extra long video for Oliver at 33 minutes.

TBH, found the interim part of it quite hard to stomach with the usual trite comments from John Oliver not raising a laugh in this household (particularly after watching Citizen Four, and seeing how much thought Snowden puts into his responses).

However, that was specifically designed ( I hope) to lead into the “your junk” explanations to the programs that are used by the NSA.

With Oliver’s prompting, Snowden’s quiet humour finished the segment well.

Depends who owns the park. Freedom of Speech doesn’t extend to private property (i.e. if the park in which the bust was erected was owned by a private interest granting access to the public), only to government.

    Good one!

Snowden is a true patriot because he told the truth to protect the freedoms and protections of US and other citizens. Now we know the facts, the debate can be made.

The military has no right to take away citizens privacy just because they can.

Nor has this made the world safer, in fact it seems to have made a market for warfare and surveillance to whole new levels and escalated many problems.

Intelligence can also be fake and fabricated so it is not even reliable.

It has also taken away world resources from solving other world problems like global warming, famine, Ebola and extinction or reduction of many plant and animal species.
