Thanks for the links, Sacha. I had a good look at the Kennedy-Graham link.

That is one of the clearest expositions of the current state of things that I’ve read everywhere. I’d encourage everyone to have a good look at what he is saying there.

Back at you – if you care so much about Nicky Hagar’s journalistic privilege being invaded by bullyboy cops, you should equally respect HDP is being intimidated because she pointed out the plod had been sitting on a dangerous loophole in the law for years.

They might be hypocrites but we don’t need to borrow stupid nicknames from Maggie Barry and play their game.

Because he said that in the chamber during Question Time, so it comes under the speakers’ jurisdiction. The speaker chose not to impose any penalty on Key, so that’s the end of it.

Dyson tweeted about the speaker, ie outside of Parliament. So it’s the privileges committee who deals with it.

I’m not aware of there being a formal method of complaining about the speaker, except to do so in the house (eg, in debate or raising a motion of no confidence).

I presume it is a deportee who ‘has done his time’ and turned his life around… so my question is:

How have the police here in NZ been treating him?

    2. 5.2

      Cool. I have a few

      How long living in Oz?
What Oz conviction(s) & what sentence?
If detained on completion of sentence, where?
What contact allowed with family while detained?
Appealed against deportation (& result if any)?
Why not taken out Oz citizenship?
      What family still there?
      What family here in NZ?
      What education & where obtained?
      What occupation in Oz?
What given by authorities in Oz for return to NZ (clothes/money/anything)?
What support in NZ now here?
      Consider self Australian or NZer?

Thanks TRP. Look forward to your post.

Cheers, G and Anne. I’m not going to identify the new chum, so some questions are out. He’s doing it pretty tough, as it is. He left as a toddler, and has never been back. It’s pretty depressing stuff.

        1. 5.2.1.1

Ok, thanks TRP. I didn’t mean to barrage him with questions, just some thoughts that occurred in a rush from someone curious. But I understand what you mean. Good luck, hope he can find some light on the horizon somewhere. And that he understands there are people here who sympathise with him and wish him well.

        2. 5.2.1.2

          a. are you doing ok
          b. do you have any family or friends here
          c. have you got adequate housing
          d. have you got job prospects
          e. how is your family in oz doing – emotionally and financially
          f. do you need any help?
          g. does your family in oz need any help coping?

I think these would be equally important question to ask of this person.

          1. 5.2.1.2.1

Despite knowing you were born in NZ were you ever made aware that you required Australian citizenship/residency if you weren’t to face possible deportation?
When were you made aware of the Australians Governments intention to return you to NZ?

            1. 5.2.1.2.1.1

I don’t think it matters about having dual citizenship because Oz can strip a person of their Oz citizenship – and then ship them back.

The Daily Mail has published the dairy industry cruelty story. Good, it’s the only way to get the message through to this violent and blase industry.
Theo Spierings should go – not just a couple of hopeless lackey thugs – as inadequate infrastructure has been built to at least mitigate the cruelty of taking the newborns away from their mothers.
And there was Hosking tonight looking so desperate that our dirty little secret was about to get out and all but begging Hans Kriek not to tell anyone.
He meant it when he said he wasn’t a journalist.
