Labour and Green voters need to hold their noses and constituency vote Seymour in Epson to keep Goldsmith out and decrease the chance of a National party overhang. (But Labour and Green voters should party vote Labour and Green in Epson)

Also to prevent a National Party overhang Green voters need to constituency vote Labour (but party vote Green) in the following seats to stop a National party overhang:

Banks Peninsula, E. Coast Bays, Hutt South, Maungakiekie, Mt Roskill, New Lynn, Wairarapa, West Coat/Tasman, Hamilton East, Hamilton West, Northland, Whanganui, New Plymouth.

Verity Johnson, by her own admission a two tick green voter, is advocating a vote for Chris Bishop in Hutt South. If he loses she thinks that he would not just be a loss to National but also to parliament as a whole. I must admit that I have generally regarded him a cut above most National MPs. Nevertheless, we can't be sure that Ginny Andersen, at 12th on the party list, would make into parliament if she lost in the electorate.

Perhaps when he loses, as in all probability he will, he should reign from National and join Labour, in time for the 2029 election.

From the bread and circuses department.

The RLWC had a barnstorming game last night. Tonga vs Samoa at Allianz stadium in Sydney.

Lots of elite players in the NRL have chosen to represent their heritage in the form of these Pacific nations. The strength of both these teams will give the big boys Aus and NZ a run for their money. Samoa has already dispensed with England.

The stands were chocka block with fans in red and blue, flag waving, singing and cheering. The contrast between the player's ferocity on the field and the camraderie of the audience was striking.

For the record, Tonga won 20-18 in a classic, high quality test match. The result meant both Pacific Island teams are into the semifinals next weekend, with Tonga topping the combined Pool B and C, set to face New Zealand, while Samoa meets Australia.

Also; thanks lprent for the reinstatement of the username/email autofill.

Chloe was superb on RNZ's Morning Report five minutes ago, including attacking Simeon Brown's "muck-raking" campaign tactics. Well worth a listen.
