Sabine at 1…………..agree who the fuck cares….

But surely his team of comms people can’t think these pics are helping his profile at all.
Its beginning to look like pics for a rural calendar with a urban model. I can see that sitting in the marked down bin by early February.

C/p and contrast with Jacinda, who is out there being seen with real people facing real problems (farmers) or people celebrating achievement………………………………

    It’s an interesting contrast:
Bridges is pretty much rubbish – but his party’s vote holds up.
Labour’s party vote was awful, but a change of leader damn near doubles it.

    What to make of this?
National supporters are (ironically for people on the right) extraordinarily class conscious and vote for their perceived economic interests. They might not like the leader but leadership doesn’t affect how they vote.
Labour voters (though on the whole being poorer) are less class conscious and are more inclined to vote on emotional and feel good messaging.

I find this very alarming – because the former is solid and immovable, while the latter flaps all over the place and is highly susceptible to manipulation.

Thanks for telling me why I vote the way I do – but you would be wrong.

Solid and immovable – like constipation?
      Labour has the skitters!
James – stop kidding yourself – you’re an authoritarian; it’s obvious why you vote National.

Please please Mr Bridges. Please stay. (Fancy this being allowed in the Herald!)

David Cormack: Reasons Kiwis prefer Judith Collins over Simon Bridges

There’s a lot of reasons why Bridges may be struggling to connect with New Zealanders. And most of them come in pairs.

He promised us he was the new environmentally friendly face of the Nats but then crapped the bed when Labour announced a long-drawn-out exit from oil and gas exploration. He told us he represented the fresh new 21st century National Party but also voted against marriage equality and thinks the current abortion laws are just fine thanks. He kept telling us that Labour was a tax and spend party but then accused them of not spending enough after the Budget. Simon vs Bridges would make for quite the battle.

You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink and you can put Bridges in the Opposition but you can’t make him lead.
