Mr B is still in a state of shocked disbelief that a rugby “test” is happening the day before the trout season opens, and that the provincial games have a time to run. This completely stuffs up the bio rhythm of spring, makes the seed planting difficult and generally stuffs up my worldview of important things being done at the right time.

It means that B is late doing the seedlings that have to be creatively placed so that crops appear where they really should be. This weekend will remedy the situation. Then there are the fowls, they require a spring clean out. Their house I mean.

I’m more shocked that I’m working for the next 4 days and that my body clock won’t adjust to the time fiddling.

And that I may hear the results of the rugby before I get home to view the recording off Prime….. do I need to not read TS at work?

If you get stopped by a cop on the way home for speeding don’t tell him you’re trying to get home to watch the rugby because he’ll tell you the score.

Respect for seeds and chooks would have you just tune into a News Report of Rugby results while checking your trout gear Bored.

    Done be meeean ianmac.

    @ Karol.

It takes me about two weeks for my body clock to adjust to this incessant time fiddling.

Railway cups…wonderful. I maintain that “rucking” (that old staple rugby ball and back scraping thing) went downhill when teams stopped traveling by train. Getting a cuppa at Timaru was a real art form.

This was menat to go under my other comment below. But we know what goes down and does not go down in NZ. It is a media dictatorship, and the sooner you realise this and challenge it, then there may be one last chance to save this place from worse.

Garden needs looking at and just watch my littlie roar around the back yard, now he’s found his feet. Oh and don’t forget Daylight Saving Karol LOL…

      You be evil, DH. 🙂
I’m up quite early this morning – in training.
Hope the weekend goes well for your garden and the little one.

I have been watching for the broad beans to emerge for 4 weeks…today they seized the hour and popped into sight. Wonderful.

Michel Telo’s new song, a bit more “trendy”, I am afraid, but still a good tune and catchy.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEiqSUzQ1fo

The young Brazilian singer has proved to be immensely popular and successful, just see the hits on You Tube.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcm55lU9knw&feature=relmfu

That was his earlier, most successful hit, a bit of traditional tunes with modern text and tunes.

I forget, we live in a media dictatorship in NZ, so one has to go off-shore to find quality of anything.

    More may be coming. Enjoy!

Michel Telo is all over the airwaves in Europe with Ai Se Eu Te Pego – I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that NZ stations haven’t picked it up, but it’s a pity, Nice, upbeat song so maybe it’ll get some airplay in the summer.

imo, an excellent satire-The Way We Live Now-Anthony Trollope
-the film version with David Suchet is really enjoyable

    Romans 1
-I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong-that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith

-I am obligated to both Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish.

-I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

Not the best of weekends Funeral of Labour gold badge recipient Thora Watts in Hamilton a really sad farewell. Then My poor wife contracted Food poisoning . So apart from my wife feeling rotten we have forms to fill from the health Dept. And a lecture from ouir long time family doctor on the dangers of eating chicken out .

    1. 10.1

      Damn. That is hard.

Personally I have been off Chicken or any factory farmed food after seeing raw video from rocky about the conditions that some are raised in here. They are an inherent health risk.

      1. 10.1.1

i NEVER BUY COMMERCIAL OR TAKEAWAY CHICKEN PRODUCTS
(highly processed protein, and not worth the risk; YUK)

AND free range eggs have come down in price.
(imagine the life and consciousness of a battery chicken) FREE, they can be real delights

i go beef and lamb that we have provided a life and outdoor grazing for

and Fish and Chips; i love Fish and Chips (at this Time) 🙂 lovely Greek descendents have a shop just around the corner, yummy!

      the pp
I wonder if you see the funeral sandwiches as being the source? That would be unfortunate happening. It sounds like a bad bug to catch. Makes my cold developing nicely and inexorably seem much less of a drag.

I buy takeaways which are a treat when I’m tired.
Pizza from Dominos – good parking, lots of pleasant young people employed.
Chinese – choose your own, nicely prepared, refreshed, good range (I like the people at another
one but their food gets mass cooked and then dries out)
Turkish – iskender which is nice mix of meat rice salad and something else? and am learning some
words – try Nasilsin (How’s it going) answer is Iyim (say eeyim) for good
Fish and chips every now and then declicious even if a diet no-go and maybe a few scallops – over $2 each battered.

My apple trees are in full blossom. So are the gooseberries and other fruits.
But in spite of today being warm (25degrees at 2pm.) and sunny there is not a bee to be seen.
Where have all the bees gone?
Will their absence affect the fruit?
I like bees and would do what I could to help them, but they are not there.

    1. 12.3

Please keep me informed on the gooseberries, Mine have done little for 3 years but look good this year. I have seen a few bumble bees, no honeys to date. To encourage them we plant lots of blue flowers like borage, vipers beaugloss etc. Some people a few sections away have got a hive, I must go and check it out.

    2. 12.4

Hi ianmac. Yes, declining bee numbers are a serious problem around the world and here in NZ. Have you tried http://www.kaiwakaorganics.co.nz/ for advice on improving bee numbers? They’re based in Mangawhai but can mail order. Romi who runs the show there is knowledgable about colony collapse and other bee related challeneges, and has been working on raising awareness on the issue for many years now. They do beekeeping workshops if you felt a real flurry of enthusiasm to repopulate the bee community, and felt like a weekend trip away to Mangawhai.
      Good luck.
