Union bogey blunder backfires

Liberal Party advertising in the Australian election looks desperate, and judging by the polls is ineffective. Witness this effort, using the old demon-union-official smear. It’s a Tory hoary, and while it might have worked for Muldoon in 1975 with the dancing cossacks, it looks dreadfully out of date in the 21st century.

Aussie voters are put off far more by Howard’s so-called “Work Choices”, where like National’s Employment Contracts Act the choices are all with the boss – my way or the highway.

On top of that they got it wrong – Wayne Swan was never a union official. Doh!

Wow, that’s pathetic. really burning their bridges with the millions of trade union members aren’t they?

And it shows how easy it is in politics to get so caught up in your own battles that you forget the pulci doens’t see it in the same way… why would ‘anti-business’ be a damning indictment in the eyes of middle Australia? And would middle-Australia believe you when you say whoever was a trade unionist so they must be anti-business?

    Pretty crappy production too.

I love it – Phil Goff’s a Maoist in Whaleoil’s pathetic little world.

    Charles Chauvel is gay.

And, shock horror, Annette King is… a dental nurse.

Honestly WhaleBlubber, is that the best you can do?
