The misleading Mr English

Bill English in the House yesterday: “In the Budget the projected wage increases exceed projected inflation.”

From the Budget: change in real wages over March 2011 year, -1.4%. Change in real wages in year to March 2012, -0.6%

Good on Lockwood Smith for demanding English answer the question.

So, that would be a projected decrease in wages of ~2% due to inflation…

Yeah, that would be outright lying on Blinglish’s part. There’s absolutely no way he would not have known that real wages were projected to decrease in the budget.

      Question 6:
“Hon DAVID CUNLIFFE to the Minister of Finance: Does he stand by his statement to the House yesterday that the Budget projects wages to grow faster than inflation; if so, how does he explain the table on page 160 of Budget documents B.2 and B.3?”

The more I see of Cunliffe the more I like him.
Seems to be doing a lot of good, solid work lately.
