Simon Bridges – criminal receiver

You have to wonder about what kind of law Simon Bridges, a former criminal prosecutor, actually practiced. Because given the events of today – it seems questionable if he understands the legal basis of our criminal laws about computers. Do we really want someone so incompetent at his chosen profession before entering politics (or have a criminal receiver of stolen goods) to run this country?

How Slater manufactures smears

Unusually the IPCA chair Judge Sir David Carruthers has written a letter to Matthew Blomfield clarifying that “perjury” is a illusion of the rogue “journalist” and fantasy blogger Cameron Slater. Plus news on the theft of Blomfield’s hard disk. Another judge destroys Slater’s carefully inflated memes with facts.

Popcorn time: how craven is Slater?

A nice decision by Justice Asher. We are now sort of journalists. But it left Cameron Slater naked in front of the clipping shears of Matthew Blomfield’s defamation case.

Polity: Through the looking glass

John Key has been running a pretty simple diversion strategy over the past week asserting that Labour knew about Hager’s book (they didn’t), that they aren’t interested in policy (our mailbox is full of their policies), and that the public will ignore the book (our stats are skyhigh). He is a loser.  Rob Salmond puts his view.

Polity: Trevett wrong on polls

The activists and very often the geeks of the local political system hang around blogs. They crunch numbers and sample opinions. Like Rob at Polity, we’re always kind of amazed when we read the type of misinformation and outright bullshit that Claire Trevett wrote this weekend about internal polling inside parties. That the subsequent events virtually never seem to back up the claims of the gullible political press gallery people who make them, also never seems to get them to realize that they have been suckered again for political advantage. They must just like biting the hooks.
