    question for lprent.

I’ve been trying to read this blog on an iphone (via both 3G and wifi) and I’ve got to say it is remarkably difficult. Compared to other blogs, load time is ridiculously slow, and once you are eventually loaded, navigation is insanely difficult. Lack of standard buttons as per most other blog sites means significant amounts of scrolling required. Versus the likes of kiwiblog, dimpost etc the standard iphone exerience is too frustrating to use. Do you have plans to improve it?

I don ‘t have a problem with it. I read it every morning on the bus on an iPhone 3G in areas with and without 3G coverage and don’t have a problem.

Weird. I read the site most mornings with my iPhone 3G whilst on the bus or bus-stop.

It has a specific fast smartphone mode. If the site appears like it does in a pc/mac browser, then you have the smartphone setting off. Look right at the very bottom of the page and check if there is a switch to go to mobile mode.

BTW: It should support the following browser tag types …

iOS / Webkit – iphone, ipod, aspen, incognito, webmate

Android – android, dream, cupcake, froyo

      Blackberry Storm/Torch -blackberry9500, blackberry9520, blackberry9530, blackberry9550, blackberry9800

      Palm – webos

      Samsung – s8000, bada

I had a problem 2 weeks ago after a WPTouch upgrade and the damn thing switched back to the non-Pro version because we weren’t http://www.thestandard.org.nz anymore. Same thing happened with another couple of plugins at the same time.

But I’ve got that fixed now and it shouldn’t have caused a speed problem..

The reported battle by John Campbell to get information on where the millions for tsunami relief went, lead McCulley to defend the spending by the Samoan Government. Stuff report:
“”Broadly speaking, our people have been very comfortable with the assurances they have been given [by the Samoan government] and what they have seen on the ground,” McCully said.”
Well. On the face of it McCulley who helped with the giving of $59.4 million, has put himself in a strange “place.” Responsible accounting for taxpayers money? Could this be a blow…….

Thanks Blip pretty amazing. There must be hundreds of thousands supporting Sanity. A comparable ratio to population here might be a show of say 10,000 people?

      1. 5.1.2

About 3000 according to my quick and nasty calculation (last report I saw said there were 215,000 there). If we took into account distance, time, costs etc it would probably be higher.

So, what was that again about increasing CO2 and temperatures being good for plants?:
    http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2010/10/seeing-red/

Heh, it’s a pretty good example of the complexities that bothering to look at ecological and local/regional land use and climate bring into the impacts of climate change. So in a nutshell, reductions in heavy frost days has increased the survival of a particularly voracious bark beetle. Which combined with human forestry and land use practices that have resulted in much higher than historical tree densities, and thus causing high intraspecific competition between pine species, resulting in weaker trees. And then there’s stresses caused by decreased water availability and heat. All which decreases tree survival, and thus has a positive feedback effect on beetle populations, resulting in massive die-offs, turning otherwise evergreen forests red.

And releases a massive fuck-ton of stored carbon into the atmosphere, and that not even getting into the possible effects on soil carbon stores.

    Yay.
