Is the search function going to be re-activated at any stage? If I look for any posts I have made by searching for Alwyn I don't get them although I can find replies to Alwyn.

Is it something I am doing or is it a bug?

It appears the UK CPS and UK police are not prosecuting to the legislative standard but allowing boyfriends and husbands to rape their partners.

In this case, the "rapist" a police officer misrepresented the facts leading to the complainant being charged with a false allegation.

This lead to the lot of them being embarrassed in court when the defence demolished their accusation of a false allegation by the complainant and showed how they were trying to misrepresent what had happened to the jury (either misled by the "rapist", or part of a conspiracy).

The judge directed CPS and police to review their decision not to prosecute the "rapist".

They again chose not to, thus not applying the legislative standard.

If this is to apply for all "rapists" with partners, or just "police officers", is not yet a known.

CPS are managing it all (coverage of the case and implications for future prosecutions) with a "victims to get a stronger voice before work towards a prosecution ends pilot programme".

It's difficult to find stats on partner rape. The UK Crime Survey results that I found seems to only show partner abuse including physical and non physical abuse.

I resorted to Google AI, which said:

Approximately 85,000 women and 12,000 men in England and Wales experience rape or sexual assault by a partner or family member annually, with 61% of female homicide victims killed by a current or former partner. Around 4.9% of adults have experienced sexual assault by a partner since age 16.

Key Statistics for Partner Rape/Sexual Assault in the UK

      • Prevalence: Roughly 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 children have been subjected to sexual assault.
      • Perpetrator Relationship: In the vast majority of cases, sexual assault is committed by someone known to the victim, with partners or former partners being the most likely perpetrators.
      • Partner Abuse: For the year ending March 2023, 4.0% of women and 2.1% of men experienced partner abuse, with 9% of these cases involving sexual assault.
      • Rape Frequency: Roughly 11 sexual offences (rape, attempted rape, or penetration) occur every hour, totaling around 85,000 victims (women) annually.

      It also said that

Only around 1 in 7 victims (14.7%) reported their most recent assault to the police.

Reasons for Not Reporting: Common reasons include not thinking the police could help (38.5%), embarrassment (35.3%), or fear of humiliation (30.5%).

Police Records: While police-recorded sexual offences rose 11% to 209,079 in YE March 2025, this increase is partially attributed to better recording and new offences under the Online Safety Act 2023.

It's a fact of life that the cops will always look after their own, by any means deemed necessary, unless evidence against them is completely overwhelming.

I have noticed in the past the term sexual assault given to a wide range of behaviours in which rape is included. And say if assault is a slap on the face or a wrist grasped to halt an action, that would mask the number of rapes and serious assaults. The level of physicality should be clear. But there is an extra problem that is non-physical, and that is the fear of likely attack as retaliation for non-compliance, so it can be hard to get an understanding of how much vicious behaviour is included in overall stats.

Well, they were very slow off the mark, but they can have a bit of credit for making the correct decision on this one.

I'm genuinely curious as to whether the habit of political protest is alive in local music? I'd love to know if some artists that are.

I've had a CD compilation playing in the workshop. Upper Hutt Posse's E Tu came on followed a few tracks later by Pumpkinhead's Nark. The latter having a crack at Minister of Police John Banks.

I know Darren Watson wrote one for Key.

    Really!

“Foreign Minister Winston Peters said New Zealand “would not add significant” value to the board. He also said that despite not joining the board, New Zealand would support it.

“New Zealand recognises the leadership of the United States, in close coordination with nations from the region, on advancing peace in Gaza. We see a role for the Board of Peace in Gaza,” he said, in a statement on Friday.”

Well, the UN Security Council voted to have a Board of Peace for Gaza with no anti-votes. That is all Winston has really approved of.

Jesus, some dogs get a long leash here.

However, who am I to complain? I have a great family and enough work to keep the wolf from the door for now.
