Yes, it's just one poll (although there has been a sustained upwards trajectory); and preferred PM doesn't equate to electorate seats; and that Albonese isn't exactly flavour of the month with the electorate ATM (so lower bar to clear).
But, even so…. that is a very clear vote of no confidence in any of the 'traditional' Australian political parties.

Matthew Hooten has been appointed Editor of the Evening Post.

The newspaper now published in Wellington is called The Post….
The BSA has never had any authority over the newspapers. They have authority over broadcasting.
The Post does not have the sort of digital platform the BSA would ever have oversight of.
Whereas NZME and Stuff might have been covered, if The Platform was not protected by the government (moving to end the BSA).
The Media Council has jurisdiction over newspapers, as well as their websites or digital platforms, this will include Stuff as well as NZME. The BSA has only ever had jurisdiction over traditional broadcasting, television stations and radio stations.
In March 2026, the BSA officially ruled that its jurisdiction under the Broadcasting Act 1989 extends to online broadcasters that resemble traditional radio or television stations (such as live-streamed audio/video talk networks).
The BSA jurisdiction claim was ended by it being abolished – The Platform remaining unaccountable, because old men and their sponsors gotta assert their alpha male privilege, protection action.
The Media Council has had jurisdiction over print and digital platforms that did not resemble livestreamed online radio or TV.

So, as you say, it seems TPM is the wild card.
The existing overhang of 3 is based on them having 6 electorate seats.
