Helen Clark farewelled by UN

From RNZ:

UN bids Helen Clark adieu with multiple events

Helen Clark is being farewelled at the United Nations (UN) in New York, where her job as director of the Development Program comes to an end on Tuesday.

The former New Zealand prime minister has held the job for eight years, and her departure has been marked by several events including one arranged by New Zealand’s mission to the UN yesterday. …

What an amazing career, what an excellent contribution. Go well Helen!

It’s good to know she will be back in NZ where we can learn about her immensely varied experiences at the UN and elsewhere.

In the event of a new government being elected later this year… she will be able to keep them abreast of the underlying forces at work in high places which could be very helpful to NZ and it’s off-shore relationships.

She, at least has been, very ambitious – not sure how that will pan out in our backwater – health and quality of life are probably influences. Good luck to her – I hope she writes a few books.

I think you will find she will be sought for such advice by an incoming National Government. I also think she will be just as generous in offering it.

I am not aware of how New Zealand’s foreign and trade policy will change in any material aspects under a Labour Government.

National will be gone by lunchtime won’t even get to 40 % this time around and ACT will be gone, you heard it first on the TS.

I think we heard it first around about 8 years ago.

The same predictions were made prior to 2011 and 2014.

If National seek advice from Helen at any time, I’m sure she will do the honourable thing and give it.

’cause I kinda assume she doesn’t want to go back to national politics. But maybe she does, local govt may seem small fry after the UN.
