      I never knew I wore thongs until I moved to Queensland. In Brazil they were called Havaiianas. I was amused to be denied entrance to a bar a few years back by a gorilla screaming “No thongs, mate!” He was not amused when I told him my underwear was no concern of his.

   Has anyone ever thought about how nonsensical an exhortation that is? How can a person be one of his of her own friends?
