The same mistake was also made by BBC and Al Jazeera English, at least, in the hour or so following the announcement. I blame panicked studio juniors being drafted into write slugs and ticker items rather than subliminal conspiracy, as pleasing as that hypothesis is.

The comment is ok, just requires some punctuation to read correctly Obama “Bin Laden dead”. Perhaps in this time of txt speak some refinements in grammar are not taught !! ;-).

Yeah, lots of people are making this mistake – it’s very easy to do.

It would be interesting if someone were to analyse the incidents of it though. See if right-leaning media were more or less likely to make the slip than left-leaning. Could be chalked up to any number of things, including the intelligence/capability of the presenters, to the script writers, to simply inherent propaganda/bias.

I heard a presenter on National radio make this slip, when talking with a former CIA analyst. Yesterday I think it was.

That’s not actually ‘Fox News’, but rather a local Fox affiliate station, which are not the same thing….

Normally when people talk about Fox News they are talking about the news on the (nationwide) Fox News Network. However these affiliate stations get a lot of stuff (including graphics) direct from Fox News Network
