while the praise rolls out for Peters getting the best deal, we should probably reflect that this is what TOP would do as well. Bargain hard and then go with the party that gives them the most power.

  1. 5

Accept Jim Beam on the rocks in an out of cabinet position and quickly lock Shane Jones in the cabinet with his two crayfish.

  2. 6

I’m surprised they didn’t predict NZ First would ask for 4 positions inside cabinet. Give it em Labour. Things are too desperate for so many people!

  3. 7

Not surprised by Labour, they have something of a rep for not doing that well in coalitions……Lets hope they don’t sink the ship…..

Winston looks like he is going to go straight into the TV news, live.

That is bold theatrical work like we have not seen in a very, very long time.

  5. 9

Well, I think it’s an outrageous set of demands! Winston can say what he likes, but with him it always comes down to the baubles…

It is interesting that he wants Ministerial positions inside cabinet – locks him in to cabinet responsibility. Not what a lot of pundits were suggesting as best for the long-term future of NZF.

It’s weirdly fascinating. Watching that guy playing with his phone is mesmerising.

Kinda reveals what it’s all about, doesn’t it? Very profound.

Apparently several microphones have been set up so it looks like its going to be more than Winston Peters w*****g on.

He’s probably gone to have a shower and a change of suit before fronting the microphones.

        Oh and comb his hair.

  6. 11

Remember, whatever he says, this is essentially Winston’s last hurrah …. His last really big moment in the spotlight

Had a glass of wine while waiting. Think I might go and get another one. Geez… I hope this doesn’t go on for too long……..

Yep, I’ve had a glass too and there’s been a bottle of bubbles in the fridge since 23rd September. Hopefully we can pop the cork soon.

I don’t suppose there’s any point in hoping people – which ever side ‘wins’ this poisoned election – will manage to be dignified winners?

    From the stuff liveblog:

Peters has just put out a statement saying he will make an announcement here shortly.

That means next week, doesn’t it?

I just moved from the Herald to newshub – just for the background noise. Hearld were at least smart enough to mute mike.

mickysavage was right. It’s Labour. Off to get yet another glass of wine…………………..

      Can’t stop squealing.
