      Perception!
      Perception.
      Perception John old chap.
In the past John could just gloss over it and get praise for his acumen. Maybe now a few worms will turn around in spite of Crosby.

      1. 2.1.3

Paraphrased as “PM instructs lawyer to lobby to stop law change”.

Come on people, use Occam’s razor.

    1. 2.3

…then when the shit angles towards the fan, John Key (yet again) sidelines IRD and pulls in a mate to ‘look at things’.

    2. 2.5

No, because that happens all the time. There’s nothing unusual about it.

ZOMG, did the PM just tell the truth? That there’s nothing unusual about corruption in his government?

  1. 3

A gross stench of corruption surrounds this government.

What happened to select committees and wide industry consultation? Now policy is formed by a quick call to the prime minister who sends his revenue minister panting at the door of a dodgy law firm.

But Mr Key said Mr Whitney’s comments, that he’d been told by him there were “no current plans for change”, were Mr Whitney’s interpretation of their conversation.

Gosh, this is getting reeelly strange. Why does everybody get Mr Key so wrong all the time. I mean, they’re always misinterpreting what he says and does and accusing him of things he knows nuffink about. I mean he says so himself. He just can’t do nuffink without people saying he’s doing somefink else. It’s so wrong. Isn’t it?

      1. 3.1.1

And is Key pretty relaxed that his former family lawyer was incapable of correctly interpreting an every day conversation?

Lol Key might want to get his new lawyer to review the wording of his wills and trusts…

      2. 3.1.2

I think Mr Key will be channelling Vickie Pollard from Little Britain very soon – “Yeah, but no, but yeah, but no, but yeah, but no”!

Heard Chris Trotter on Radio Live this afternoon while I was driving around the congested mess that is Auckland, for the man.

He repeated something which we all know and that is the importance to a poll driven prime minister of his own pollster. Trotter outlined that Key’s announcement of a land tax being an option was to generate the required public discussion for the idea to be polled. Key would then form government policy on the result of that research.

Question: Is David Farrar’s polling company, clearly a device of government policy, subject to OIA requests?

In city where Mike Tyson committed sexual assault, Trump told crowd he was proud of having Tyson’s endorsement, “because we need toughness.”

But in video obtained by BuzzFeed News, Trump went a step further by more directly suggesting Washington wasn’t a victim of rape at all.

“You have a young woman that was in his hotel room late in the evening at her own will,” Trump said in an NBC Nightly News video package obtained by BuzzFeed News through the Vanderbilt University Television News Archive. “You have a young woman seen dancing for the beauty contest—dancing with a big smile on her face, looked happy as can be.”

“It’s my opinion that to a large extent, Mike Tyson was railroaded in this case,” Trump also said in the package, which aired on Feb. 21, 1992.,/i>

gotta say i am really enjoying john campbell on rnz 5-6.30.

this arvo, interviewing the stand in boss for eqc.
in response to the assertion that eqc has done everything correctly, campbell excuses himself for being abrupt so early in the interview, then politely and concisely negates the assertion.

great balance of serious investigation without taking themselves too seriously.

Yes journalism is not only enjoyable but essential as it seeks the truth beyond the spin and rehearsed lines trotted out. John just does his job which you don’t get much anymore in the msm.

By contrast observe all the BS allowed to stand unchallenged by govt ministers, our dear PM and various captains of industry who weave a narrative using the various owned outlets.

The narrative sticks as it’s never challenged. Look across the ditch at how Turnbull isn’t getting it all his own way due to independent and public media calling it as they see it not how they are told to see it.

That T-shirt is supposed to imply that only suckers poor people pay taxes, isn’t it?

May I respectfully suggest that there’s a flaw?

May I also suggest that taxes are for the public good, i.e. for all people?

Just feeling a little pedantic tonight …
