It’s hardly a large issue and not everyone will agree but I am quite sad that more voices and opinions will be muted when Media Works shuts down their talk-back outlet Radio Live. I quite liked the NightTalk show for a bit of variety and entertainment in the evening and it was less combative than other shows. It’s a bit disconcerting that The AM Show and some right-wing blabber-mouth on at 3pm are the shows chosen to be retained. i’m not advocating that it was of huge social value but for a bit of light relief and varying opinions it is another avenue to converse for NZers that is lost.
It seems some sort of Nat Party ploy, given the fuss over Shane Jones and other everyday communication, that nobody, anywhere, at anytime or for any reason should be encouraged to “talk to people”. That sort of carry on over history is the sort of thing that gives people “ideas” the Natz won’t be encouraging any of that sort of “nonsense” if they can help it. I wonder if this has Steven Joyce’s prints on it.

        Lol

Of course you think he is open minded. He is a current govt fanboy

        It is an old story.

Everyone is an open minded media when they agree with you.

Everyone is a right/left media when they question your chosen parties actions

You make a lot of idiotic assumptions Chris T.

When I refer to a Talk-back host as open minded, I mean that they consider things from multiple different angles, so the listener can then form their own opinion and conclusions. Providing information not just propaganda.

Think for yourself, instead of just parroting someone else’s opinion.

Or just dogged opinion, if he calls Mitch Harris a “fan boy” – which I don’t believe he was – how should Hoskings, Smith on ZB, Ryan Bridge etc be described? The Night Talk programme was reasonably open-minded and covered a range of topics, music, international politics a bit, and chatty stuff on all sorts of events of the day to that degree it as at least a bit entertaining and do not lecture on any particular topic.

Guessing more “Talkback” type comment here then …. as seems to have crept in as of late.!

Perhaps time to cut the cord …
