Skip forward to 1984, when Robert Muldoon was swept from office after a calamitous third term. However, National’s overall share of the vote declined only 2.9 percent, because of the disproportionality inherent in first-past-the-post elections.

Nice glossing over of history there. National were only in power from 1978 because of the dis-proportionality of the FPP system (I would copy/paste but it’s a really nasty table).

First, National manages the rate of its decline well – so well, in fact, that no National government has failed to serve less than three terms.

And there’s been many times when they shouldn’t have because they didn’t actually have popular support.

In a just world, hurricanes will wait till after Trump leaves office before demolishing Mar-a-Lago. Because if they do so while he is making a de facto White House out of it, he’ll find a way of making the government pay for a lavish rebuild of it.

Democrats for Social Credit, Whangarei Candidate Chris Leitch, didn’t get invited to the local candidates debate. Shame on our fallen democracy. This was the third major party, and only competition to Labour Ltd and Nation Inc, decades ago in FPP times.

Chris Leitch is a solid politician with finanical insights and more, a genuine active local, and can even dance. Yeah, guess he’s over qualified for MP. Expect DSC will still out pole ACT nation wide, but expect the media to bury facts like that as best they can.

Desperate maybe. But changing the average albedo of the earth is a feasible tool to reduce warming. Painting a house roof white or light green is one of the easiest big things a homeowner can do to reduce their personal contribution to warming.

In LA, though, they can’t drive when it rains as it is. If the roads get even slicker when wet coz they’re painted. fun times.
