    Non-existent trust contracted to set up charter school

    Seymour initially told reporters on Thursday the trust did exist, but his office later clarified he meant the school's sponsor existed.

    Yes David….

    He said the agency was not rushing to approve schools before next year's election.

      He's very nasty when put on the spot, people need to see that.

      I know it's hard to keep with all the crap that comes out of him, in another era he'd be the gift that keeps giving.

        AKA Atlas Dave, and truth….are but passing ships. And yep totally hard work trying to keep up. Problem is,if he was the only toxic mole in this whackamole ,sadly there are literally so many in NACT1 : (

        Still the more exposure to sunlight….and the occasional hammer whacks help !

    Yes. It absolutely still matters. As does NZ's current disreputable position on it under NACT1. IMO prime to this? Kick NACT1 out 2026 including NZFist's Shane driller Jones et al !

    And after RNZ's sad loss of their previous,IMO awesome Climate Change Correspondent Eloise Gibson, Kate Newton has stepped up. And she seems to have hit the ground running !

    'Embarrassing’: International climate expert at COP30 scorns NZ’s methane target

    Speaking from the COP30 global climate summit in Brazil, Dr Bill Hare said the New Zealand government's recent policy decisions were "completely contrary" to scientific consensus.

    "It is unbelievable this has happened against a background of a rapidly warming planet, and increasing scientific concern that methane emissions have to be reduced absolutely and quickly," he told RNZ.

    And Dr Hare just calls it out…

    The adoption of a 'no additional warming' target, rather than pursuing more ambitious reductions, was "an embarrassing and humiliating capture by industry", he said.

    Supposed to be a "debating chamber".

    How does a debate occur when most of the other side of the "debate" are absent.

    Or the select committee process, when laws are rammed through in a rush, even with overwhelming public opposition?

    Anyone who still has delusions that NZ is a democracy, should have had them well and truly shattered in the last year.

    There was an old joke about this, by an old joker (Muldoon,well, he had a peculiar laugh). Seems the new jokers (Stanford,Willis,Upston aren't much worried either…as NZ's economy will improve ! Or something…

    A democratic socialist has just become mayor of Seattle in a major shock.

    Katie Wilson has beaten incumbent Bruce Harrell on a platform of:

    Housing is a human right.

    Tax the rich instead of squeezing everyone else.

    Expand transit.

    Protect renters from predatory landlords.

    Build a city for people, not profits.

    Not only that but the progressive slate for the Seattle Council also won.

    The no-kings/anti-Trump momentum is taking off.

    The local gas to methanol for export business.

    Countries such as New Zealand and Chile that had “stranded gas basins” — too small to justify supporting an LNG export facility but too large to support only local demand — had been the “sweet spot” for methanol producers in the past, Sumner said.

    An implied warning here about the cost of building a terminal to import gas.

    At full capacity, Methanex’s New Zealand plants could produce 2.5 million tonnes of methanol, but annual production has dropped back to 400,000 to 500,000 tonnes per year, he said.

    Methanex was “continuing to engage with government and upstream partners to encourage more upstream investment”, but was also preparing for other scenarios, he made clear.

    That's more exploration (government subsidised as there is not a great chance of "profitable" discovery). The alternative might be a wind down plan involving partnership with government on gas use.
