High-profile lawyer says there should be numerous police investigations as a result of the book:
    http://www.radionz.co.nz/national/programmes/checkpoint/audio/20146115/dirty-politics-'police-should-take-matters-further'-says-lawyer

    • Can’t see any law-breaking by Hagar for ‘receiving stolen property’ as it does not appear to apply to emails
    • Privacy issues need to be weighed against the interest in receiving and publishing the information
    • Hacking of Cameron’s computer is illegal and police should investigate
    • Police need to investigate many of the incidents exposed
    • Police definitely need to investigate overwhelming evidence of National hacking into Labour’s website
** Doesn’t matter that it wasn’t secured as the computer crime law is very clear
** You need to not have authority – Labour clearly didn’t give it
** You need to know you don’t have authority, or be reckless about it, which is clearly the case for Ede and Slater
    • The conspiracy to blackmail Rodney Hide is just scratching the surface of illegality in the book
    • Appear to be breaches of advertising standards rules – Slater claims to post under his own name but actually he is posting content written by commercial entities for their commercial benefit
    • Commerce commission should be involved due to ‘misleading and deceptive practices in trade’ which applies to the commercial companies working with slater
    • Defamation act should apply as Slater has used the defence of “honest opinion” but the work hasn’t been written by him so it clearly can’t be his honest opinion and were paid for
    • Law society issues – 3 people are lawyers are behaving incredibly badly
    • Media needs to stop giving equal weight to both sides of the story – denials by National and Key Et al are clearly refuted by the evidence.

    Must have picked up the;

    See no evil.
    Hear no evil.
Speak no evil. — all from a trip abroad?

So umm – where did that philosophy – saying come from?
First thing a Lawyer says is “don’t admit to anything just deny it all”.

Mr Key is no doubt being told that now.

So legal proceedings will have to do it under oath, and he will be happy to spend taxpayer’s money to get it the truth out there.

My choice lay charges as the Lawyer on the RNZ signals

A couple of pieces from MSM journalists.

Marcus Lush, at the end of the day, once you get past the All Blacks stuff, get’s stuck into Key in an interview.

And Rachel Smalley tells it like it is:

Key, incredibly, continues to stand by slater claiming he is – quote – “just running a blog site like anybody else.”

He is not. This is no ordinary blog. It is the mouthpiece for many orchestrated campaigns of smear and smut, of bullying and blackmail, of attack dog politics. Whaleoil is anything but an ordinary blogger.

In the meantime, Slater is employing diversion tactics. He’s trying to pin this on Kim Dotcom. If in doubt, blame the German. Dotcom says he didn’t hack Whaleoil’s website. What or who do you believe?
    […]
Also, the book’s author, Nicky Hager is under pressure to reveal his source. I don’t know why. No journalist reveals their source. Ever. Again this is a diversion too – the hacking of Whaleoil’s website is not the story here. It never was. The story lies in the contents of the correspondence. That is what is in the public interest.

And finally, those who question where the truth lies should remember this. To compare Nicky Hager and Whaleoil is to compare apples with Weetbix. Hager has a great deal of credibility within the media — he is an experienced journalist who must report facts with fairness and accuracy.

Those rules don’t apply to bloggers. Those rules don’t apply to Cameron slater who can do whatever he chooses – and does so – to ensure the political gain of the centre-right.

Again, quite why National continues to side with this man, is baffling. Quite why is remarkable, in both its arrogance and its stupidity.

Just add it to the collection alongside other performances such as Tranzrail eyes, the beemer blues, Fletcher me up etc.

Shonkey classic (s)hits, don’t touch that dial folks.

I think Keys has nothing at this point but then did he really have much to start with or was he a creation of the right wing MSM….

    0:40 in this tape.

“I’m sure they do have a robust conversation and probably if I looked at your emails to Patrick Gower (smiles) they might be pretty rough too.”

Seems to me that he does.

What happened to that extremely confident Key Smile we have always seen over the last few years when ever a reporter has asked him questions like these about something someone in National has done wrong?
Do you think the fact that there is so much overwhelming evidence this time has him quaking in his boots?

You got to love his biggest lie of all that he pulls out on a regular basis.
“Every Other Party Does This Sort Of Thing”
Um no Mr Key they do not. There is no similar person so closely tied to a political party on the Left doing what has been outlined in the book Dirty Politics.
Most people on the left actually tend to shun people that act like that, not embrace them.
