      Typical govt.

Nothing for disabled who struggle in both social housing and private market rentals that don’t meet their needs.

Interest free should go to these people first rather than offering a choice along the lines of take the unsuitable/damaging social housing we offer or fuck off – its “your choice”.

“I do hope this time they are helped.”

Unfortunately patricia, they are beyond help. They will all have to go…and never be allowed to be involved with providing vital supports for people with disabilities ever again.

(You were referring to MOH;DSS weren’t you ?)

Would it surprise you Sacha if I told you I read that paper yesterday with tears streaming down my face?

The Misery’s list of “Perceived Risks” of paying family carers has the effect.

How bloody dare they talk about “abuse to vulnerable disabled and / or older people ” and how “It is a challenge for families to be carers as they are not trained like external carers and there are no quality standards in place. ” after this….http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/9379405/The-shame-of-silence

“Terrified, the girl sits alone in the tiny room. She can hear the laughter of her tormentors through the wall but she is unable to move or talk. It is the second time that day she has been taken into the toilet and left there. The first was for almost two hours while her caregiver had a sleep, and now after dinner the staff have placed her there again, knowing she cannot move until they come to her rescue.

The girl is 17. She is intellectually and physically disabled. Placed into the care of Te Runanga o Toa Rangatira, a residential facility near Wellington in 2010, she turned from a happy teenager into an anxious wreck who was “petrified” of returning to the home and who cried every day at school. She was made to wear nappies and a bib, was underfed, and possibly hit and kicked and called a “bitch” by her carers, who also left her in soiled clothes and refused to let her use the phone to talk to her parents at night.”

And yet the Misery, in its infinite wisdom and compassion, has treated some of the parent carers in our group like absolute garbage.

In many of our cases, the care required has been beyond the capacity of the Miserly’s Contracted Providers and the only other option to us family carers providing the care (unpaid) has been residential care.

And…although Peter and I have told them we view being told that by our NASC or the Minister as a threat….they simply don’t get it.

Kirsty Johnston does..(and for that I’ll forgive her for putting our pictures out there again.)

Thanks for posting Sacha…I’d seen the Paper but not the article in the Herald.

Real people might be better off renting cheaply than committing themselves to massive mortgages roddy. If only there was a ministry dedicated to building cheap rental housing.

Like HNZ but for everyone? Good idea.

Makes more sense than first home buyers paying 700k (figure PM mentioned) for a home.

    2. 3.2

There’s a ministry for living with extended family in order to survive. Prevalent in South Aucks I’m picking.

        Yes you are right.
NZ’s media is a tool for big financial interests.
Watch the Abby Martin interview at 6 below.

@**I am so angry tonight!! This northern farming coup;e have had endless fines for polluting water ways with dirty dairying practices.

    Over 8 years!!

They say they are broke, and lawyers say they can not access money in other ventures and trusts!!!! WTF!!!

Why are these people allowed to keep proceeds from their environmental crimes??
If they were gang members it would all be confiscated to the crown for reparations.

Well HEY!! Time to treat these bloody vandals the same way. IMO

Shocking case. This is how New Zealand sees all farmers and I suspect more are guilty of this sort of behaviour than are not.

Thanks Cinny, Yes isn’t that just unbelievable. A caveat over ALL their things I reckon, and I can actually understand some societies sending such people to re-education centres. Just awful.
