Good point. Probably hinges on what the kerfuffle was actually all about, and since both sides remain reluctant to explain that technical point, it must be sensitive!
My guess is that the Greens would be open to it in principle, but would only go for it if the couple were forthcoming and explained themselves sufficiently for the Green co-leaders to feel okay about it and take a proposal to their caucus.
Trump may he have cowered some Senators like Kaine (HRC 2016 running mate) into appeasement (Trump trying to walk back or block SNAP payments while running a court delay strategy).
