Daily review is also your post.
This provides Standardistas the opportunity to review events of the day.
The usual rules of good behaviour apply (see the Policy).
Don’t forget to be kind to each other …
More the proud thief Materia, the feather wearing loon that tried to pull the greens down as she left , the it's not business wage thief cycle business owner, and [deleted]
I deleted the last one (formatting is broken, will fix later), because there's a line around making the place hostile to others and that crossed it. I'm letting the rest stand on the condition that you make some political argument more clearly if the conversation continues (the argument is there to be made, I just don't want a flame war).
Would also appreciate if you link if you are going to refer to conversations in other posts, but appreciate that you took it out of someone's posts to DR (good move).
Thread starts here (for context)

The political argument is that as the left generally play an honest game , they need to not give the corrupt dirty right a bat to beat them with.
So selection is everything, not fair bit suck it up.
As for Golriz she fully owned up and gave mitigating reasons for her actions.
Since when is an honest opinion hostile,
I agree generally. My understanding is the GP have change some things about the selection process, but obviously that only affects incoming candidates.
it's in how honest opinion is expressed. In this case, I assume you don't know them, so your opinion about things they do with their life is abstract and has to be weighed up against how many people who are similar are going to respond to what you wrote and if it will put them off reading or commenting here (see the Policy bit about tone or language).
It's not always a clear line, but given what's happened in the past 10 days to them and the child, I'm erring on the side of caution.

Oh dear!
For the hundredth time, we have to wonder why parties don't seem to do the most basic homework before picking candidates. Especially a party like National who wouldn't be short of wannabe MPs.
You either do full disclosure before it hits the news, or you decide it's not worth the risk and don't pick that person. Waiting and hoping nobody notices a candidate's "religious" (questionable) activities is ridiculous.
on the face of it, there's no story here.
All religions have problems with sexual abuse. The common denominators are men and power. Not restricted to religions either.
(yes, yes #notallmen, and #somewomen, but the women are a tiny number by comparison. Sexual abuse is gendered (which means biological sex)
If you have some evidence that there is a problem, please post it.
Why the oh dear?
A family connection to a church, religious group or other political party, is just that.
He doesn’t appear to be involved, nor is he a leader within the “church”.
The Herald article ends "More to come." Is The Herald milking it? "I'm that confused."
Given our Campbell's science background, perhaps he shares some views about the consequences of anthropogenic global warming with another Hamish Campbell.
Anyhoo, how's billionaire Jim Grenon's takeover bid for the NZME board going?
They are probably trying to show they are balanced in their reporting as they had to report on Benjamin Doyle. People will make up their own minds as to which one is more serious depending on who they vote for.
tl,dr; we bought their stuff and they kept our money!

Donald Trump’s tariffs will fix a broken system
Next we must tackle the barrage of non-tariff weapons used to strangle American exports

The international trade system is broken — and Donald Trump’s reciprocal tariff doctrine will fix it. This long-overdue restructuring will make both the US and global economies more resilient and prosperous by restoring fairness and balance to a system rigged against America.

At the heart of this crisis is a trade deficit in goods that has ballooned to more than $1tn annually. The economic models of free trade that predict chronic trade imbalances will always be eliminated through price adjustments via exchange rates are dead wrong.
The US cumulative trade deficits in goods from 1976 — the year chronic deficits began — to 2024 have transferred over $20tn of American wealth into foreign hands. That’s more than 60 per cent of US GDP in 2024. Foreign interests have taken over vast swaths of US farmland, housing, tech companies, and even parts of our food supply.

An endorsement of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has provoked an angry outcry from anti-vaccine activists.
"The most effective way to prevent the spread of measles is the MMR vaccine," Kennedy said in the third paragraph of a lengthy post on the social media platform X. Kennedy made the post following meetings on Sunday in Gaines County, Texas with the families of two children who have died of measles during a recent outbreak in the state. He also said he had instructed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to "supply pharmacies and Texas run clinics with needed MMR vaccines," along with other medical supplies.

Anti-vaccine anger
"I'm sorry, but there is no defense for this poorly worded statement," wrote Dr. Sherri Tenpenny, a prominent anti-vaccine activist who once claimed during a legislative hearing in Ohio that the COVID vaccine could cause patients to become magnetized, allowing them to stick "spoons and forks" all over their bodies.
Del Bigtree, a prominent anti-vaccine activist who supported Kennedy's presidential run and recently co-founded a non-profit with him called MAHA Action, also questioned the health secretary's endorsement. Bigtree suggested that Kennedy's post had "got cut off." He then went on to make unproven claims about vaccines and autism, and linked to a documentary he had made on the topic.

A government fund is under attack!? Quick, call out the military to lay down suppressing fire – although I’m not sure our CoC govt takes global warming seriously.
