May just be another evil motorway project to some, but the $1.4billion Warweview project has halved the time it takes to or from the airport, and taken 20 mins off getting to town.

Pretty good timing for the government.

There was hardly any traffic in Auckland today.

In my usual bus commute via the CBD this morning, Queen St by the Civic was a ghost town. Buses that are usually standing room only, had loads of spare seats.

Wait til the end of the school and uni holidays, and see what the traffic is like then.

I give it about two to three years before the induced congestion has people complaining about it all again.

You cannot fix the problems caused by cars with more cars.

Carolyn, are you for reals please? Far out you are, I thought it was a joke, like I really did.

All i can say is… what on earth were they thinking?

Shit that’s not good lol. Waiting for a Pam Corkery type moment then.

On the plus side… as campaign manager they’ve got another radio jock Nick Tansley, much nicer and a bit of a blast from the past. No idea how good he is at running campaigns though.

Definitely looks like Saudi Arabia and assorted allies are queuing up for war against Qatar:

The four Arab countries leading the boycott against Qatar say that Doha’s refusal to accept their demands proves it has links to terrorist groups. They have vowed to take fresh “political, economic, and legal measures” against the country.

And this, IMO, is the reason:

“Bahrain and Egypt, they are at junk bond level,” he added. “If you look at Saudi Arabia, they are having genuine issues with their finances.”

“We are the fastest-growing country in the region, 40 percent faster than the nearest Gulf Co-operation Council country [the UAE].”

Fear of a nation that is doing better than they are.

Last year various Saudi players commented on their plans to float the country’s oil reserves. The rational can be seen as
      1. Lack of oil revenues seeing the social welfare programmes getting reduced and the citizens becoming less compliant.
      2. Fears of political instability seeing the current players trying to get their hands on as much cash as possible and squirrel it away for themselves.
      3. Fears of a reduced demand for oil in the long term therefore at peak revenue.

Haven’t heard were they are up to now, but given moves from Volvo to move onto electric or hybrid vehicles only; and, France saying no ICE vehicles after 2040; and, Sweden saying no new ICE vehicle registrations after 2025; and …… The list goes on and the Saudia Arabian political stability gets less and less.
