It’s a timely reminder that 12 days before the election Winston Peters has just reaffirmed the door is very much open to a coalition or Confidence and Supply agreement between National and NZF. If you want to change the government, a vote for NZF is a risk.
The Herald’s “mood of the boardroom” makes encouraging reading for Labour, with support for change and strong themes of social conscience.
Cartoon “Hurricane Ardern” by Emmerson.
Graham Cameron from First We Take Manhattan writes about the importance of voting Green this election in order to change the government and green the government.
Meet the new bridge, same as the old bridge.
Simon O’Connor’s attack on Jacinda Ardern yesterday represents a new low, even for National.

Voting has opened for advance votes and the expectation is that it will be pretty heavy prior to polling day over the next couple of weeks. I’ll be out there voting today for Jacinda Arden as my local MP, and for the Greens as my party vote.
For progressive Epsom voters the best way to change the Government may be to give your electorate vote to Paul Goldsmith.

In The Herald: “Fear of a Labour/Green Government in the business community is well gone, says SkyCity chairman-elect Rob Campbell”, “Business doesn’t necessarily do better under National led Governments”.
The Greens have a comprehensive, detailed plan for NZ on what to do about climate change that works through transforming the economy, ending poverty, and protecting the environment.
Some polls have National below 40%. If that is reflected in the election result then National will lose much of its diversity, setting the party back by many years. The current list was constructed for the “pale stale male”. They need to be better balanced in the future.
Seems Joyce doesn’t have the credibility to run another planned hit job. Labour insiders report debate and anger within a divided National party.

Jacinda Ardern has set out an ambitious list of actions for Labour’s first 100 days, including banning foreign, non-resident house buyers by Christmas through an urgent law change.
National’s current polling under Bill English is showing the same dramatic slide that it did in 2002, the last time he was leader.
Beneficiaries are not getting the support that they are entitled to. NZ is beset by rising poverty, its associated diseases, homelessness, and suicide. I wonder if these facts could possibly be related?
Even those who have supported National in the past must see that this current bunch have lost their way. National needs to renew itself, some time in opposition will do them good. Don’t vote for liars.
Bill English has finally committed the Government to doing something about Child poverty. But why has he and National taken so long?

A strong Green Party presence in government is the best way to prevent the TPPA, and is critical in protecting NZ’s environment and social and political sovereignty.
Weekend pundits agree that the Joyce / English brazen lie about Labour’s budget is a disaster for the Nats. Duncan Garner pronounces National’s death rattle.
Should the Greens form part of the next Government there will be huge expectations on them to perform.

Jacinda Ardern has released Labour’s climate change policy – including zero net carbon emissions by 2050. Jacinda has called climate change “my generation’s nuclear-free moment”.
One of the dafter myths about the current burgeoning immigration industry is that we need skilled immigrants for the construction industry. As usual the talkback idiots are wrong. We don’t get many. We need more. We need to get rid of the migrant dross to get them. A Kiwibuild quota is a good idea.
National has tried to divert attention from the budget hole fiasco by promising to get even tougher on beneficiaries.
Last night Bill English emphatically defended and agreed with Steven Joyce’s lie about a “hole” in Labour’s budget – specifically the disproved figure of $11.7 billion. Jacinda Ardern took him apart with one simple question. English has nothing left now.
Labour has overtaken National in the RNZ poll of polls. Last night’s TVNZ poll had National 4 points behind and falling below 40% for the first time in a decade. Labour have the momentum, and 2 weeks to go…

Tonight’s TVNZ Poll shows Labour opening a 4 point lead over National.

Another debate between Jacinda Ardern and Bill English, tonight at 6pm.
