More fishy than a bait shop

So the identity of the junior staff member who met with Fonterra and Z Energy and received paper versions of submissions urging the Government to retrospectively breach Mike Smith’s right on behalf of all of us to sue the country’s biggest polluters for the damage they have done to our environment has been revealed.

But it was not a junior staffer. It was Matt Burgess who served as Christopher Luxon’s chief policy adviser from January 2024 until late last year and who was also the National Party’s chief policy adviser from January 2022 and who had previously been a senior economist at the New Zealand Initiative think tank, specialised in climate change and energy issues and who had worked for then-Finance Minister Bill English.

This was no junior staffer who made a mistake. His seniority makes you think this may have been a carefully designed system to avoid detection and not an innocent mistake.

And Luxon’s attempt to divert and avoid now appear to be ham fisted and for someone who claims to have a Christian faith dangerously close to breaching the ninth commandment.

On Tuesday in Parliament he kept repeating the line that there was no record or recollection of any meetings or interactions with Fonterra or Z Energy but his office has asked Ministerial Services to remind all staff of their obligations about record-keeping.

This might have had a modicum of believability if it was a junior staffer who did not know what the rules were and was enthusiastically doing their job. But it was Luxon’s chief policy advisor who had also been National’s chief policy advisor, who had worked for the New Zealand Initiative and who also worked for Bill English when he was a Minister.

Give me a break.

This stinks.

The Government intends to take away from Mike Smith his constitutional right to seek redress from the country’s biggest polluters through our Justice System.

And they are doing this at the private behest of two of the parties Smith is suing.

And they took active steps to hide the fact that the two parties had urged them to do so.

And Luxon is now suggesting that this was a mistake made by a staffer and not a cynical attempt to keep us in the dark that only came to light because Smith’s lawyers knew what they were doing.

Luxon’s defence is that this was caused by utter incompetence in his office.

I beg to differ.

This is more fishy than a bait shop.

    IMHO Luxon is lying.

So, the plausible incompetence defence fails in this case. Not many excuses left: cockroaches ate the papers, hackers made it vanish and forgot to ask a ransom for release, it fell between the couch leathers, or a sudden upward draft of the air-conditioning system suck it in (in which case it’ll be sitting on the filters like a fatberg in sewer systems – plenty of local experts around in Wellington, I reckon).

Perhaps the papers were depressed and leapt into the paper shredder?

        Love it!

The staples couldn’t hold it together anymore and broke down causing paper panic & destruction.

David Seymour popped in and accidentally burnt them with his portable bonfire kit (aka lighter), thinking they were regulations.

Winston First was so incensed because he mis-read the word “imminent”, causing immediate combustion.

Shane used them for wrapping his fish.

Luxon has told his office that it must never happen again – stop asking so many questions you guys!!*

    Gets teary-eyed

They just don't care if they get caught. As long as they get their Atlas agenda well embeded befoe the election.

After all, they are wealthy and sorted.

      +100

the open nature of it all is a recent feature a la the maga trend of go hard, flood the zone, stifle debate, msm distractions

Gotta fast track the removal of rights and access to recourse as fast as they can.

The Atlas Foundation is being ignored while we have a finance minister who is a member of this cult who believes in promoting pro-white, pro-rich, anti-poor and anti-Māori legislation which are the basic tenets of Atlas. Seymour is a member and I believe Costello and Bishop. Who else? We've been invaded by elitists.

Surely the fact the bill was introduced speaks for itself.

And quite conveniently the corporate media is serving their political masters and largely ignoring this story. It has been reported but this level of corruption should be leading every news bulletin and be on every front page.

It's as if the individuals within MSM are all of a sudden shit scared of what the strong arm of the state might have in store for them. Surely in a democracy when a government starts threatening the fourth estate with "say this or we will do this to you" we know we're in a dystopia. Another sure sign is when images of the faces of the unevolved, particularly Seymour, can make you physically ill.

Yes, imagine if a similar thing had happened in the Office of a Labour PM!

Not that it would have – of course, but just for the sake of the argument.

Imagine the response of the media – the headlines, the outrage, the calls for resignation.

And what do we have – crickets!

Luxon cannot tell the truth even if he fell over it on a darkened night.

Luxon has a Proclivity and Inclination to Lie as often as he can in the hope he can get away with his actions. He could be thinking along the lines of Joseph Goebbells that with Lying Often Enough that eventually the fickle NZ voters will believe in His Lies and think they are the Truth.

He calls himself a 'christian' but to date his faith to a religion is Plastic in Structure and Content. He has more Love to The God that is MONEY than he does to ordinary people.

In fact he is on record of calling Low Income NZers Bottom Feeders. I feel after recent events he needs to look in HIS MIRROR and realise who is the TRUE BOTTOM FEEDER and it's the reflection looking back at him.

Once news broke of this ZEnergy-Fonterra-Gate scandal Luxon threw a Random Staff Member with close Atlas Network Links under a bus in his Usual Blame Others but Himself Tactic.

This showed Luxon up badly that to save HIS OWN ARSE he was only too happy to find someone else to blame. In this instance it was Matt Burgess Luxon's very OWN Chief Policy Advisor(aka the Random Staffer).

Even the contradiction in timelines of when this Random Staff Member with Atlas Network links left the PMOs is looking more suspicious as time goes by. Some news items has that Matt left the PMs office this month(May 2026). The Swing-About of the exact date is looking as bad as Luxon's Track Record to date when it comes to him being a Proper Prime Minister for ONCE in this One Term Government.

What dug Luxon into a More Deep Political Grave than ever was he claiming One Minute that he never knew about the two documents delivered on Two Different Dates in 2024 to HIS office and then claiming the non-existent documents were taken by the Random Staff member(whose name by the way he couldn't remember)when that staff member left the PMO.

But the amended legislation was almost Word for Word in what was in the two documents delivered by Z Energy and Fonterra to the PM's office in 2024. The documentation that Luxon claims "Does Not Exist".

It seems Luxon suffers from Selective Amnesia when it suits him. Abit like Gerry Brownlee applies Selective Hearing Difficulties when one of HIS colleagues yells an insulting word or name to someone across in the Opposition. But when an Opposition MP yells something at say Willis then Brownlee is “All Ears” and Heard that and demands an apology. Next he will be Running Late for a Plane and probably a $15.00 Paua Pie with Willis in tow.

I am waiting for Spec-Savers to eventually have advertising on Helping Incompetent prime ministers like Luxon to have a Memory Test.

This is what Matt Burgess wrote about his Blog Policy when he was blogging for the NZ Initiative

I will post corrections as soon as I become aware of an error, and mark up corrections by striking through deleted or changed content.

Constructive comments only please. Blunt is good. Obnoxious bad.

It's interesting that it turns out the reason the official correspondence from Z and Fonterra "disappeared" is that Burgess, when employed by the Prime Minister apparently used his private email as a back channel so avoiding the scutiny of the OIA.

It is also revealing that Luxon used someone like Burgess as his senior adviser. NZI is essentially the think tank of the ACT Party so it is clear that most of those in the National Party are indeed ACT supporters in drag, using the National Party front as the supposed "acceptable face" of an unacceptable party.

yes Imho, NAct is now nACT – past time to go 'full-ACT', for the sake of transparency.
