Is that creating news or reporting it ?

If I was a journalist covering gaza, I would have thought letting the people of gaza tell their stories was more important.

I seem to remember previous vessels were carrying much needed supplies and were the size of large ferry , but this ?

“Freedom Flotilla III, consisting of four boats, the converted fishing trawler “Marianne of Gothenburg” and the supporting sailing vessels “Rachel”, “Vittorio” and “Juliano II”,”

Is it carrying supplies or a media circus? It is a worry when the ‘needs’ of the media are put first. Its ‘Paddy Gowerism’ but with better weather!

Is there no palestinian media ?. After all every night we have reports from BBC from London, or ABC or NBC and such dealing with events in their countries.

Why would they carry supplies? Bound to be blockaded by the Israelis. Much like any attempts to broadcast media from Palestine. Don’t be naive.

Its good to see they are safe, as those israeli commandos can be extremely nasty.
Oh , and there were carrying medical supplies too .

Obama interviews David Attenborough on tv1 at nine as well tonight .From the ad I saw its about climate change.
It might be worth turning the idiot box on tonight

Mihi is a great Interviewer. Calm polite and able to get devious clowns like Key back on track to actually answer the questions. What a sad loss. Tonight a must watch!

She is one of the best interviewers I have seen in New Zealand. Winston will be on. I’ll be watching.

She is brilliant, isn’t she – I hope her talents don’t go to waste at RNZ.
There;s really no-one left worth watching any more – it’s down to fluffy animals and stately homes if you can’t do sport or reality TV.
Mind you, it will be interesting to see if Native Affairs tries to go down fighting

Not such a waste of space – you have to give him points for describing the sale of houses to Australia as “dingoistic”.

    1. 10.1

Sorry – that was in response to a comment that has since vanished but which referred to Winston Peters as “a waste of space”.

[We seem to be getting a bit of spam tonight and I see there are two comments in the trash that use the phrase “waste of space” in reference to Winston. One was from a regular commenter who may have just changed their mind about posting. The other was spam. Either way, Winston is definitely proving them wrong. TRP]

flavell is a total utter wanker – he’s seen the whānau ora figures but won’t release them – he is a wanker for letting those involved take the flak when HE HAS THE FIGURES – that is what he said and i am going to take his word rather than go down the liar road. Fucken shifty eyed git.

He’s a classic case of ‘if you mix with dogs you’ll catch fleas’.
He was actually way out of his depth and at one stage I thought he was going to burst into tears.
Dear old Sir Pita has skipped it with his shiny new badge and left a lame duck to defend the indefensible

  6. 13

Of course Key must have decided that the risk of looking lame when seriously questioned was a bigger risk than not fronting and disgruntling just a few who might notice their absence. Imagine if Nick Smith had been there to answer for his disasters.
Sad to see the last of Mihi.

It was brilliant stuff. I liked the “You’ll be sorry when I’m gone song at the end”
Flavel seems to think we’ll all be ok with the excuse that as the Whānau Ora report was on the previous four years, it’s in the past so doesn’t matter now.

I use my television as a glorified computer monitor – sometimes I plug the aerial in for a bit of Parliament TV in the background. I ‘OnDemand’ Q+A and The Nation. Other than that television is pretty irrelevant to me.

I’m guilty of having Fair Fax Media’s ‘Stuff Application’ installed on my phone – yet I often find myself rolling my eyes.

In the 80’s, the Crown institutions of British power decided that some individuals ( later to become democratically elected representatives within their own Parliament) were terrorists who the rest of Britain shouldn’t have to suffer listening to. Thus it was that Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness of Sinn Fein (‘We, Ourselves’) were banned from having their spoken words aired on media.

The resulting solution was that whenever they spoke on camera, their voices were overdubbed by actor’s. Most times the actors evoked more passion than the original speakers, and so skilled were they at synching their words that it became impossible at times to notice. Some of their more memorable soundbites were captured for posterity primarily due to the actor’s brilliance at their craft.

The unintended consequences of small minded meddling in a complex system.

Only some will recognise the portent in this tale……
