Drinking Liberally – Christchurch

Matthew Hooton calls Drinking Liberally ‘a trendy leftie clique’. Well, I’m not sure I would agree with mad Matt on the ‘clique’ bit, four chapters around the country with as many as a hundred people coming along to events seems a bit bigger than a clique, but it sure is getting trendy. The latest chapter is starting up in Christchurch and I hear there’s going to be a Dunedin DL too.

If you’re down in Christchurch, try to get along. It’s a good opportunity to meet some like minded people, have a drink, have a laugh, and talk politics. Oh, and there’s the Facebook group, which you can join up if you want to get an email letting you know about events.

What: Drinking Liberally – Christchurch

When: 6pm, 11 December

Where: Warner’s Pub, on the Square.

Who: Guest speaker EPMU National Secretary and probably next Labour President Andrew Little, and good jokers and jokeresses like yourself.

At first I thought the title, “Drinking Liberally – Christchurch”, was a statement. Sure is a true one, don’t see people doing much else around here.

I was wondering why the bottle looked so red white and blue, then I realised it is US initiated group. I think the local version should be called “drinking radically” and have a brown bottle.
