Private health insurance pleading for tax breaks!! I'm sure national and act will let them swing as the market has spoken , surely?
The medical insurance business includes non profit.
Health needs more funding input.
Primary care and dental included (the Green Party would act in these areas).

National is driving business to private hospitals (public funding of ops using its resources – which drives more resources there). ACC also does this to get ops sooner and get people back to work.
Hope's choice (advocate) here would suit the National Party middle class home owner voter demographic.
Labour would note this.

One wonders if national pushing more surgery to private is about keeping there donors and portfolio s profitable then helping people.
The ACC does it to save money.
National does it to show itself doing something to the wider public* and … possibly to keep party donors happy.
The private hospitals are one part of the health insurance sector.
*This is why some want measurement of unmet health demand (the public sector including primary care not coping).
