Key: ” …. and this is the list of perks yoi’ll continue to get after you stop being an MP next year, Rodney.”

Hide: “Sweet, John. You know, my girlfriend reckons there’s no need to go to Disneyland at all when we’ve got Mickey Mouse and the Magic Castle right here in Parnell!:”

This is a letter from Rodney’s mum, this is from Rodney’s Dentists who also says he has got very good judgement, and Bill and Mary have rung and the pizza bloke they all say the same.

As John spoke, Rodney fought back the tears and forced a smile.

John seemed relaxed, as usual, and his words were soothing. In spite of all that had been said however, deep down in the recesses of Rodney’s heart he knew their very special “friendship” was over.

I have an agreement with ACT to form a Government. Rodney writes the policy and I scuttle and run while smiling and waving. Sounds good to me as Rodney has very high ethical standards and I have no ideas.

R: okay John, this is the latest list of convictions my MPs have accrued
J: cheers Rodney. Can you pass around this order sheet for my “blind trust” vineyard? Payment to “Hawaiian Laundromats Trust”.
R: sure mate – I’ll get David to order twice because he hasn\’t cleaned out his office yet.
J: oh shit a camera – smile nicely and shutthefuckup

Then John looked into the camera and smiled, Oh hasn’t he got a lovely smile and he said:-

“There are no flies on Rodney, no not a fly, nor a smell in fuct it’s all roses”

But there were plenty of flies on the skeletons at Rodney’s place as he had forgot to pick them up off the kitchen floor.
The smell was getting unbearable in his ous there was nowhere he could
    HIDE !!!!
After all they wern’t his, he only gave them employment and how is Rodney to know if the next
Comrade is to be a SPANIARD in his works.

just a thought … was Garrett appointed to Parliament prior to ACT joining the Government? If so Hide’s possible error was made prior to the period John Key is referring to. From Key’s point of view Hide has done a good job with Auckland.

Much was made in parliament that Hide’s “lapse in judgement” was made prior to the coalition being formed. That’s not the problem – not as far as it involves Key. The decision to keep it from the electorate, and not hazard chances of election, was poor judgement, and could be seen as an “ACT” of deception.
But as far as it relates to Key and his responsibility for/confidence in Hide is that Hide entered into an agreement with National, on a “no surprises” basis, and yet chose to hide this matter from Key.

Therefore, Hide’s error (as you call it) was not an event (as people mistakenly portray it) but an ongoing policy of concealment/deception that continued into the coalition negotiations and into government. Every time he met or communicated with Key he was committing the same “error” over again by not disclosing the issue to Key.

“I have received a note from Herr Hide, assuring me that he has no further political territory ambitions. Peace in our time!”

add that Hide hid it from Key (at least that\’s what Key\’s saying) when it came to forming a government; that\’s a breach of No Surprises
